Title: Swimming Lessons

"Caeser it's just water!" Acacia laughed, amazed at her flit's sudden fright to water. That made her pause, was it really sudden? Caeser never really got dirty, he preened and flew around in the rain... It had been a long time since Acacia actually had to wash him. The blue chirped and tried to hide behind her, his head poking out from around her side, eyes whirling.

Not that she didn't understand his fear. Acacia herself had no idea how to swim, and not long ago had been dumped in this same lake. never the less, Caeser would be easier to keep clean once he knew. She twisted around, trying to get her hands on the small flit. With a squawk, Caeser jumped back, shaking his head in a 'no' action.
"Caeser, stop that." Acacia scolded lightly, the flit did stop shaking his head, but came no closer.

Taking in the tight posture, Acacia switched her approach. Smiling slightly at him, she scooted closer to the water, waggling her fingers in the crystal blue water.
"Come on Caeser..." She murmured, her tone pursuasive. For a long moment, the flit didn't move, how could his girl ask him to go near the stuff that looked solid but wasn't? Move he did, neck outstretched to sniff it. Acacia smiled brighter, splashing slightly in the water. Her fingers would go numb before long, but as long as Caeser realised there was nothing to be scared of.

It was strange, the small blue thought nothing of dragons. Save they were big, with loud voices... He wasn't, however, scared of them. Caeser found them fascinating, yet he fould something like water scary? It was puzzling, it was something about her friend she hadn't known... That alone was disturbing. Acacia had thought she knew Caeser better than she knew herself. In most cases it was true. Not in this one.

"Come play Caeser." She mumbled, her tone still light. Another step towards the water, and Acacia felt a sense of achievement. He trusted her! Even though he was terrified, even though he told her through mental images he didn't want to... Caeser came towards her voice, soft and soothing. He knew no other way.

What would it be like to have a human friend to trust you just as much? Or was it only an animal/dragon/flit thing? To be able to trust it's handler, or bonded to the point of trusting them above themselves... He was still crawling closer, wings flared, belly to the ground as he kept an eyes on Acacia's fingers.
"We can't stay long.. If you want to play..." Normally, Acacia would keep to simple instrustions. Lately, Caeser seemed to be picking up on the intelligence the other flits flying around showed... And whether it was reflex, or trying to be better, he seemed to understand more.

Finally he let a claw touch the water.
"Good boy." Acacia whispered, eyes shining with pride for her friend as she scratched under his chin. A soft croon escaped him and he moved his head so she was scratching his eyes ridges. Still Acacia sung his praises. Finally, Caeser stepped intot eh water, away from Acacia's hands. He chirped in surprise. Then looked at Acacia, as if saying 'where's my game?'.

Acacia laughed and splashed him gently. Immeadiately, Caeser chriped, and splashed her back with his wings. Wetting her far more than she was capable of wetting him. She laughed and he chirped, she splashed him, he splashed back. Acacia shook her head, how could she ever want anything more than what she had. She had a friend that would do anything for her, she had Caeser. That was more than enough, no one could possibly want more if they stood in her boots.
