Title: Lunch and socializing

She could have washed Kiskith again, could have found something else to do that would keep her busy and away from people, but no. After the talk with the Weyrwoman, and her asking if she was holding her green back, well now she would show them she wasn't. Kiskith was able to rise, of course she was. Lyra had no problems with it, why would she? Except the awkward postition on the morn, and the fact of not knowing if her green would between to get away from those she didn't want near her.
Why on Pern would I do that? Silly, silly, silly Mine. Kiskith never leave you, never, ever. Promise! The greens voice floated through to her from where she rested on her Weyrledge. Rather bored if truth be told. However, Hers was actually going to try and talk to people, socialize she called it. How odd. Never mind that, if Lyra-Hers started talking to people, that would make her happier yes?
Flier and Lil'Bit are coming to you Mine.
Just as she said it, a green landed on her shoulder, tail hanging by her arm, one forepaw resting on her ear while the brown rested on her other shoulder. Seeing no point in choosing to do other wise. Lil'Bit, the green, chirped sweetly, nibbling slightly at Lyra's ear to get attention.
"This should be easier with you two." One stroke for Lil'Bit, and one for Flier. It was all so easy when it was just her flitts and her dragon... But what if... Sighing, Lyra sat down with the meal she'd chosen.
Pieces of her meatrolls went down the throats of her two darling flitts, though neither, thankfully, went for her K'lah.

A'breeq entered the dining hall of the Lower Caverns with a happy sigh. He hadn't eaten all morning, and after dealing with the mess that was Kharasi's newest Candidate, Olly, he was nearly starving. Asaujarth had gone right for the dragons' feeding grounds, of course, and now in a sense the bronzerider was doing the same.
He felt the eyes drawn to him as he came closer to the crowd of Weyrfolk sitting down for their meal. It used to bother him, but by now he was used to it. Anyway, the scars from both childhood and Threadfall that marred his face had faded just a bit, and he had taken to presenting himself with a light smile instead of his usual scowl.
He happily loaded a plate with his favorites, the Weyr classics: roasted wherry, meat rolls, bread, and some fruit, and grabbed a mug of klah too. Inhaling the aromas of his food was making him even hungrier, so A'breeq took the first empty seat he could find, which happened to be next to a young woman and her two flits.
"Good afternoon!" he said to her and the firelizards, happily beginning his first meal in what seemed like Turns.

Lyra very nearly jumped when someone spoke to her, and only keeping her gaze on Lil'Bit saved her. Calm, she just had to keep calm. Don't stutter, just act like you talk to people every day. You don't draw back from people.
You shouldn't. It's not like you're mean. Kiskith assured her from her Weyr, the mind-voice sleepy, which told Lyra her green was drifting off to sleep. For a change. Normally the green would be flitting about talking to someone...
"Good afternoon." Yes, good start. Mimic him, made everything easier. She didn't look up from the cup she was holding, despite Flier, the traitor, trotting over to A'breeq and sitting himself before him. The brown was the perfect picture of, 'pet me or I'll do something....' that something wasn't written on the flitt's features. It often amazed Lyra how easily Lil'Bit and Flier conveyed their feelings to her. She'd heard some had trouble.
"Late lunch as well?" Oh that was just lame! Obviously he was having a late lunch, other wise he would have come in earlier when the K'lah was hotter, much hotter than it was now. And the good foods were not eaten or too hot to be eaten immeadiately.

A'breeq sensed Lyra's nervousness and winced. Shards, any girl would be scared to find herself next to a big, hulking, scarred bronzerider who was eating like he only had a minute more to live. He slowed his eating pace to a more civil speed, and absently held out one end of a bitten-off meatroll to the brown firelizard while he swallowed.
"I was bringing in a Candidate," he explained. "I'm not even an official Searchrider, but my bronze told me I had to pick up the Lord Holder's daughter or else." He took a gulp of klah to wash down the food. "I think he might be getting senile, though, because that girl is the most high-strung, materialistic, whiny brat I've ever laid eyes on." A'breeq brooded on her for a moment, the old scowl surfacing upon his lips again, then realized he hadn't introduced himself yet. He whirled to face Lyra, holding out one enormous hand.
"I'm A'breeq, by the way, rider of bronze Asaujarth."

Flier seemed to look at the food being offered to him suspiciously, wondering if perhaps this human had done something to it... Something bad... Then turned his head away, he'd had food to eat, what he'd wanted was a pet, but never mind. His would-
Oi. The green had gotten there first, attatching herself to the front of Lyra's shirt and would remain there until she was happy with the attention. Glaring slightly, Flier sat, waiting his turn.
Lyra smiled, Kiskith didn't have the patience for being a Search Dragon, besides, she thought everyone was lovely, everyone was nice and deserved to stand, if the green ha it her way, all of Pern would be on the sands. Even so, she could guess at what the girl was like from the description. A green-rider at best.
"I'm Lyra, of Green Kiskith, it's a pleasure to meet you." Her own hand grasped his briefly in the time she removed it from stroking Lil'Bit.
