Personality: As outgoing and extroverted as her brother is withdrawn and competitive. Emig fears nothing, but unlike M'cail she will rush headlong into action without stopping to think. This has gotten her into trouble before, but her insatiable curiosity hasn't made her more wary, to M'cail's dismay. Her brother usually rescues her from the worst situations, but his overprotectiveness has its price. Emig has no true sense of danger, and remains incautious and impulsive.
History: Born to a small family of struggling traders, M'cail and Emig grew up expecting life to be difficult. Things quickly got worse than either of them could imagine. When he was 8 and she was 6, their parents drowned in a flash flood that took them by surprise at the base of a mountain where they'd set up camp. The children were playing on a high bluff above the camp, so they were spared but had a dragon's eye view of their parents' deaths. Numb with grief and fright, M'cail pulled himself together to care for himself and his sister. They lived on scraps and whatever food small cotholders saw fit to give them, keeping mostly to unpopulated areas and using what their parents had taught them to avoid Threadfall. They became half wild and learned to live off the land by foraging, trapping, and fishing. An unpleasant incident with wildcat foresters led to them narrowly escaping with their lives, and both children grew even more wary of strangers. However, that winter was particularly harsh, and it sent them staggering, half starved, into the Ongla caravan camp. The traders took the children in and the healer Limaru nursed them back to health and taught them to read and write, a few months before she was Searched.
