Name: Mikael
Gender: Male
Age: 47
Sexual Preference: Heterosexual
Rank: Art Hall Master
Appearance: Caucasion, roughly 6' 6" and 360 lbs, Mikael is no bantam. His large arms are well muscled, developed from occasional metal-forging required for certain aspects of his job, yet they lack the definition that comes from frequent excersize. His belly is given to paunch, but his legs are fairly muscled from the amount of walking and lifting that comes along with his job. His hair is a graying brown, and he is begining to bald in a small circle where the folicle-swirl is tightest. His eyes are strikingly blue, and though small peer out from beneath shaggy brows with a clear intensity of focus. Mikael has a large nose with flaring nostrils, which flare even larger when, on the rare occasion, he is moved to anger. His nose is framed by two deep laugh lines, with match neatly with the laugh-induced crows feet that frame his eyes. His lower lip pouts slightly, and he has a tendancy to chew on it as he concentrates. Typically, he dresses in wide, tan trousers and a brown leather blacksmith's vest. He has a tendancy to sweat while working, and cant be distracted by sweating through an undershirt! He has large, thick fingers, and is constantly impressing fellow artists with the dexterity a large man can have.
Personality: Mikael is huge and intimidating... Until you get to know him. Honestly, he is nothing more than a big teddy bear. Don't be fooled: Mikael has a back bone, and once he has made up his mind then that's how its going to be. This attitude largely applies to his job though, and he is very talented in seperating work from personal relationships. He understands that business is business, and it is the rest of life that really makes the difference. He is affectionate, and it is not uncommon to see him grabbing a person up and cackling madly while he spins them through the air before setting them down with eggshell delicacy. He is given quickly to laughter, and one of the art hall past times is to grab a cup of klah and follow the sound of Mikael's booming laughter: That's where the best stories are being told!
History: Mikael has explored various forms of artistic expression from childhood on. His father, a tanner, had hoped his son would follow in his footsteps. Yet it was soon apparent that Mikael was more interested in the art hidden inside the leather than the form he was supposed to be cutting. More than one argument was staged over a boots or vests that became belts or wrist guards, simply because that was "the pattern hidden inside" the piece. Mikael moved from form to form, developing and refining his skills. He explored metalwork, sculpting, ceramics, and even jewelry making. In his early twenties, he was apprenticed into the art hall, moving through the ranks until he was training beneath the Master himself. This move gave him opportunities to explore even more artistic forms. Eventually earning the title of Master for his own, Mikael has strived to take the art hall to the forefront, taking a personal pride in the work of the students he carefully hand selects. Currently, his personal apprentice, Alecto, shows great promise, yet he could do without the personality clashes that keep the two at arms length... One of the good things about her though, is that she is quite apt at painting and sketching, something Mikael has never quite mastered. He is not bad at sketching as part of a larger project's plan, but it is unlikely anyine but he will recognise what it means and what it is supposed to be.
Family: Mikael met his wife, Kuski, in his late thirties, much later than typical. Recognizing instantly the bond between them, they were married mere months after meeting and are still very happy. He is very gratefull that his wife, six years his junior, was able to give him three children wonderful: Armon (14), Tornka (13), and Jushki (4).
