Appearance: Timat is a near opposite of his father, Shigan. He works hard to maintain a strong and quick body, balanced and tested as a weapon. He engages in daily training with knives and dirks to keep a fighting edge. These fights are not to the death, but Timat insists that death must always be a possibility. His hair shows a reddish tinge, a remnant of his mother that, like his blue eyes, is not shown in any of the rest of his family. He does not keep it trimmed in the military style as his father, but maintains it in a short style to prevent it being grabbed in a fight and cost him the advantage. He is slightly taller than his father, being about 5' 8" tall by the old Earth Measure.


Personality: Timat is a violent man, but his violence is curbed by a limited cunning and the will of his father. He is also a risk taker, engaging in regular knife fights that he terms 'training sessions.' For these session he insists that the fighter be trying to honestly kill him, and he is honestly trying to kill the fighter. The duels are always to the first blood, but should the heir presumptive feel that his opponent is shirking, he will have that man banished from the Hold. He is a sexist, refusing to train with women because of their 'obvious inferiority'. This will, however, transfer to a repulsive fascination with female dragonriders in time, as he is totally unsuitable to be a rider and cannot understand the 'power' the female riders have over the dragons. His father keeps him in check by constantly reminding his son that Timat's status as the heir presumptive is solely based on Shigan's pleasure. Though Shigan has no other children (that he knows of), he threatens Timat with being replaced by distant cousins or likely youths from other holds.


History: Timat is the eldest son of Shigan. Growing up with a mind much like his father and totally against his younger sister Lyssa, Timat secretly rejoiced in the news of her and his brother Tommen's death. Early in life he took an interest in weapons and their use, and has trained all his life to be a living weapon. His father never took much notice of him until Timat came of age, and since then Timat's trainings have been interspersed with 'object lessons' on how to run the hold, how to squeeze for more profit from the holders, and how to take and keep power. Timat has proved an indifferent pupil at best, but has learned to pressure the people in the hold to keep these things quiet.
