Activity

Lets start this off with an activity check. Who all is still here? If you are, please check in here, and give us a little update on how real life is being to you. I just want to know where everyone stands right now.

Posting

Sometimes I feel that if I don't respond to every single person's post with one of my own characters... that rp does nowhere. Why is this, people? Do we honestly just not have enough people? Are people that busy? This isn't a berating, I just want feedback and input so that I can make things better and make them run smoother. Do I need to keep things moving a little faster to keep everyone Motivated?

Good RP Rewarded

Well, I've been rping at another rp site that isn't DRoP related when I don't have stuff to post here, and they have a point system where the more you post, the more points you get that you can cash in for special powers and stuff like that. So... how would people feel if I developed a point system? Not a point requirement, but a reward system that gets people excited to post. If so, what should be the prizes? I'm still hesitant to say 'being HAD' but who knows... if a person gives me hundreds upon hundreds of posts of good rp.. I might feel inclined to consider =)

Oh yes by the way, I changed my AIM name from Rperdragon to RpDeviant

I check in everyday, but haven't felt that I've had enough energy to put into a good post. I've got an 8 page paper due Friday that I've been working on, so between that and the rest of my classes, I'm just ready to either fall into bed or waste a few hours mindlessly relaxing my brain with tv.

I feel super guilty about it, though. To make up for it, I've been thinking of two new Candidates to bring in at some point in time, so eventually I'll be able to get posts up for them as well as stuff up in the Gather and Alesia's weyr.

But I AM alive and lurkingly active lol.

As for the point system, if you feel like it'll work, go for it! As long as you can never save up enough points for a HAD or some nonsense like that. ;)

Lol! I plan to make it so that if a person ever hopes to actually get that many, they've been around long enough to know how to do it properly XD But yes, they'll probably be distracted by all the other things they can buy with points and never get to that point.. bwahahahaha...

I think the point system is a good idea. It may get more people excited to post.

And I may sound absolutely horrible when I say this, so I hope no one takes it the wrong way. Please don't. I feel like if I can work 40+ hours a week and still find time to post, even busy college students can. Not super check it out it long RP posts, but at least a hey I'm alive but insanely busy I'll be on when I can blah blah post. I will cut the seniors some slack because they generally have more to do if they have an omega but... anyway! I'm not trying to sound accusatory or horrible so please don't take offense when I don't mean any by it!

I don't have the excuse of being a senior yet, but I still have some backlogged papers I need to get done. I'm going to work on finishing those this weekend, and then getting along with working out some sort of post or another for something.

Really I'm alive, hanging in here, and I check in every couple of days or so.

I'm here! Not going anywhere, either, I promise. I will, however, try to do better about making a post informing you guys about upcoming absences, or at least sending Stormy a message. The past two weeks have been full, and I expect surges of several days' worth of non-posting to occur sporadically this spring and summer. My next one will be the weekend of May 10th, when I'll be out of town to attend my best friend's grad school graduation.

Okay, I've given it a day to think what the prizes should be and I'm still drawing a blank. Or, more truthfully, I've allowed myself to brainstorm and rejected every idea as stupid, been there done that, or horrifying. These have included a gold fire lizard (yawn), a mutant dragon color (gods no, what was I thinking), and a predetermined high-ranking character like a Lord Holder or Wingleader (mostly on a volunteer basis anyway, so pointless).

I'm sorry, Stormy. I wish I had better creativity. If I manage to think of anything I don't imagine will be rejected at once, I'll post it.

*Ping*

An idea just hit me. I'll understand if it will be shot down, and I won't be upset.

But ... it's possibly even allowable in canon Weyrs by McCaffrey herself...

What about a female brown rider as a reward for good roleplaying?

Nako - April 23, 2008 06:06 PM (GMT)
Brownriding females... I have been so desperately wanting to add them.. but it was so strongly rejected in Tiazora I was loath to bring it up again. That.. is completely up to everyone else. If the rest of the Weyr would wish to add that feature then I would consider it.

My -greatest- dilemma though, is I don't necessarily want dragon -color- to be a reward in itself. I typically want to add.. certain features.. special quirks to dragons for good roleplay. I agree that one should have earned the right to rp a higher rank dragon, especially that of a rare pairing.. much like earning the right to a gold dragon but something I'm realizing as I go that the way we do things is so free flowing, it is difficult to quantify it.

I won't directly quantify posts and topics, but I will say that quantity of posts DO matter.

Ahhh I have been longing for brownrider females forever! :) 8 thumbs up from me! ...somehow o-o
