Title: April 3, 2008 - Woogity Woo!

Notice something different? =3

You all can thank Jennalyn, who goes by Jenn, for the help. =D I surely couldn't have done this by myself.

I logged on and was all holy dbsfj!!! It looks great Nako. Wonderful job! B)

My favorite is probably all of the cute little pixel images. Whenever I see a flame-bearing green instead of an egg on the front page, it just makes me laugh.

Nako - April 3, 2008 03:25 PM (GMT)
Oh yes, I fully gloat and ham up all attention that my pixels get XD

But the actual coding was done by Jenn, so be sure to thank her too XD ... Putting up with me and my demands in the middle of the night trying to get it all finished. Teehee!

Wow! Love it! :D

Thought for a minute that THIS was the april fool's joke.

Nako - April 4, 2008 05:05 AM (GMT)
Aww XD Well I hope the site doesn't look too terribly laughable D=

Fallen_Crusader - April 4, 2008 08:48 PM (GMT)
Not laughable at all. I am excited and it looks good. Much better than just the plain board did.

Nako - April 5, 2008 01:05 AM (GMT)
Oh goodness, isn't that the truth? =P I'm so tired of the color blue that I think the only way I can tolerate the hue is if it's in dragon form! haha.. XD

I think it's awesome, Stormy. It looks a lot like the colors from the original Neopets Kharasi. <3

Which reminds me...pictures of the Weyr as it was originally imagined!

If these imaginings have been changed over time, it's of course understandable. The original concept was taken from the Drakensberg Mountains in South Africa, which would make a pretty good Weyr!

Someone should do a sketch one day...

Nako - April 17, 2008 07:32 PM (GMT)
Oh wow.... I've actually done a few sketches but I've since been quite unhappy with them. I'll take these images to heart when I rework how it's all going to look =D I was very much flying blind when I had to remake Kharasi.

This brings up a point that has always bothered me because, in every single Weyr I've been in, precedence was never established. It is well-known that the Holds are to be kept green-free, especially during the time of Pass.

What about the Weyrs?

And this is just a question, honestly, not calling out anything wrong in the pictures :)

Nako - April 21, 2008 04:32 AM (GMT)
I believe that the 'green free' thing has always been a bit of a problem in that in some situations, it doesn't make sense. In the Weyr I'd imagine they would keep greenery away from the walls of the Weyr, the heights.. basically any place that it would then lead to a place where people live. Weyrs are tricky in that they need -some- greenery for the dragon food. I also think they might even be a little lenient since it's like.. their home turf. they'd keep greenery in specific places but certainly have "breakers" so that thread couldn't spread too much. So I'd imagine sand and stone except for the herdbeast pens and maybe around the lake, and possibly on the ground.

For the Holds, they'd keep it green free around human habitation. There will probably be fields of lush greenery and maybe even sparse forests that are maintained for cultivation if necessary. If they just killed everything green.. Pern would look barren, and probably have lots of dust storms. So basically they try and protect all of Pern's territory and only skimp in mountainous, barren areas and large expanses of water.

Generally though, there isn't much in the way of lush, wild fields and forests within a short distance from Holds save for what is carefully cultivated.

Overall, green-free is tricky, and it's safe to assume anything terribly close to civilization will either be cultivated.. or rock, with barren "breakers" between wilderness and farmland.

But to try and answer the question better: the mountanous spires would be kept green free, but the Bowl might have greenery with a "break" from any entrances.
