Title: New Arrival

AlannaLioness - March 6, 2007 06:05 AM (GMT)
A loud squak emitted from the mouth of a tiny blue fire lizard, which was perched apon a young girls shoulder, blushing furiously, Acacia pinched the blues mouth shut
"Shush you... I don't want to be sent home!" She hissed, the blue crooned something and Acacia let him go. Her wide eyes took in the scene before her with confusion, she'd got here... Now what? She shifted on her feet, wishing for the thousandth time she'd stayed in the meadow when the DragonRiders came, this was all new...

Caeser dug his tiny claws in, his eyes whirling as he to observed his new home. Chirrping he sent Acacia a wave of images, one showing the meadow, then the dragons and then this, all combinded with confusion.
"This is our home for a while." Acacia replied softly, the flit made a sound half-way between a chirp and a grunt, and flared his wings. Acacia sighed, he wasn't going to make this easy.

"Ok now where do we go?" She muttered to herself, tugging at a loose strand of her ebony hair, looking uncomfortable as she stood in the heat, her other hand toyed with the bottom of her grey tunic, stroking the material.
"When in doubt, the best person to ask is yourself. Then for help." Acacia's mothers voice snapped into her mind, using the tone she'd always used when giving the girl advice,
"Well I guess, we should look for the Candidate Master huh?" She asked Caeser, who merely regarded her somberly.

Nako - March 6, 2007 06:24 AM (GMT)
Ugh. Why was it that they had decided to come in now? Nako slapped her riding gloves against her side as she made her way across the bowl. Her dragon was sleeping on his ledge, and she didn't have the heart to wake the blue up after patrolling that morning. So, instead she would have to amble along in full riding gear all the way over to the Candidate's barracks. The bluerider pushed a few stray hairs behind her ear, the majority of it pulled up in a crude bun. She had been assigned the role of temporary Candidate Master, but it hadn't been but recently that the candidates were beginning to actually live within the candidate's barracks. There was a buzz going through that Iolath would be rising eventually. Maybe not for another few sevendays, but there was a growing tension, and the late to rise queen was definitely due to go up in the air sometime before turn's end.

Ah! There she was! Nako raised a hand in greeting as she quickened her pace to cover the distance between her and the new arrival. "Sorry about making you wait. Only recently have I actually had to deal with candidates, and my duties aren't currently reflecting the fact I need time to be here for candidates as well" She grimaced, but then held out an ungloved hand to the girl. "I am Nako, rider of blue Mellanoth, and the current candidatemaster. And you are?"

AlannaLioness - March 6, 2007 06:31 AM (GMT)
The sound of footsteps made Acacia turn, unseating Caeser. He squaked and went into a tirade of scolding, all the while Acacias cheeks grew pinker,
"Caeser shush!" She finally whispered, the blue shut up as though she'd tapped his muzzle again. Acacia smiled at the Candidate Master, bowing to her.
"Greetings, ow Caeser!" She began then winced as the blue knocked her ear with his wing tip as he tried to get a closer look at the new person.

Acacia waited for a moment, waiting for him to stop chittering
"I'm Acacia, and this twit is Caeser. I'm sorry miss, he's usually better behaved." She whispered, Hanging her head. Caeser crawled down to rest on her chest, flaring his wings protectively, Acacia glared at him.

Nako - March 6, 2007 06:45 AM (GMT)
Nako chuckled, raising a brow as she regarded the firelizard. She adored blues, but sadly the firelizard counterparts weren't always as cooperative as their larger firelizard kin. "If you end up having too much trouble with him, I could have Kuro watch over him. He's my bronze firelizard, and he likes keeping the young ones in line." She smiled quirkily, letting the candidate know she was half joking. "Well, it is nice to meet you, Acacia. The right wing of the barracks is designated for females only. The other is for males. You can go ahead and set your things down, if you like. Have you eaten yet?" The last comment was said in quick afterthought, unsure as to which timezone this girl came from, and if she hadn't eaten yet.

AlannaLioness - March 6, 2007 10:31 AM (GMT)
Acacia smield and bowed again, yet again upsetting Caeser. He scolded her but fell silent the minute she asked. Acacia thought for a moment, had she eaten? She couldn't remember, Caeser chittered in laughter and again fell silent. He fanned his wings slightly. Acacia bowed again to Nako,
"I rearely eat much miss. I'm more interested in reading or writing, I like stories, I tell them to Caeser, so I probaly haven't." She replied polietly, a sparkle in ehr eyes as she almost giggled, catching herself in time and preforming yet another respectful bow.

Nako - March 7, 2007 06:00 PM (GMT)
Nako 'tsk tsk'ed loudly at that comment, actually giving the girl a slightly reproachful eye. "Well, don't you worry. You'll get more of an appetite around here when we put you to work. We can't have weak dragonriders, you see" She smirked, and continued. "But I won't force you to eat though; when your body begins to crave it from all the work it has to do, then you'll eat." An all knowing chuckle followed after that, remembering her fickle appetite when she first became a candidate. The constant chores, and then weyrlinghood made Nako definitely appreciate food more.

"Well, if you are not yet hungry, the noon meal will be served in a few hours anyhow. The dining hall by the way, is located through that entrance there..." She pointed toward a moderately sized opening that was decorated with carved stone pillars. It was too small for any dragon other than a small green to enter, but of decent enough size for a large number of people to file in. "So when you hear the bell tolling that will mean it's mealtime." Nako bit her lip and looked around for a moment, collecting herself. "For now, you an set your things down in the candidate barracks. Feel free to use the bathroom facilities when you wish unless after curfew, which is two hours after sunset. You may wander around the Bowl to some extent, but don't go playing in the feeding pens or go bothering the beastcrafters or the Wherhandlers on the far side. The lake is open to candidates during the day, but it's best not to go into the water unless others are there, or you are with someone"

Nako herself was having difficulties remembering all the rules. There were plenty of them, but most of them long winded and not appropriate for casual conversation. "We are still bringing in candidates, so the classes are small, but everyone meets in the common room, which is up the steps from the barrack hallways. Everyone meets there after noonday meals. Any questions?"

AlannaLioness - March 8, 2007 10:23 AM (GMT)
Acacia was overwhelmed by the amount of instructions, but commited them to memory as best she could. She took a second, following the Candidate Master's instructions and looking in the direction of the Barracks. She looked back at Nako with an intimidated smile.
"Just the one. Um, how do we know what chores we have?" She asked quietly, she'd have preffered to ask another time but it was the only thing she didn't get.

Caeser took off from her and winked between, probally to go find himself a green or something. Acacia watched the place where he'd dissapeared sadly for a moment, then forced a smile on her face. It wasn't like he was really gone after all... She looked up, searching the skies, for some reason she'd slways thought that at the weyr there were always dragons in the sky... so far she hadn't seen one.

Nako - March 9, 2007 09:22 PM (GMT)
"They will be posted in the common room every sevenday" Nako gave the girl a reassuring smile. "You will not have any chores for today, but I'll assign you with another candidate to help you get the swing of things though... but let us not worry about that right now. For now you need to get unpacked and settled in. I have some things to attend to for now, but you can get settled, and maybe spend some time in the common room till it's time for the noonday meal." Nako nearly walked off, but stopped. "Did that answer all of your questions?"

(You can either pair up with another person's candidate for a rp if you want, or wait until I get my candidates sorted out XD I'm actually not sure where to go with this setup at the moment though.)

AlannaLioness - March 12, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
Acacia dipped her head, she bowed deeply, curse Caeser, she needed him. Her hands were trembling but again Acacia dipped her head
"Yes miss. Thankyou miss." She said polietly, her eyes downcast, unable to look around her, dissapointment settled in her, she'd hoped to get into work straight away, but it seemed she wasn't going to have that, lazing around...Hm, her second favourite past time. She could fantasize, make up stories, try and figure out who her father was. Acacia beamed at Nako,
"Thankyou again miss." She murmure,d bowing again and walking off with a bright bounce in her step. Now she could think, who was he?
