Title: A perfect match...
Description: ...yeah right

K’ren meandered lazily across the hard-packed ground of the Weyr Bowl as he cast nonchalant glances around him. He was bored. He got quite restless when he was bored. It was a nice day, albeit a little chilly due to the season, but the sun shone brightly in the sky. Rakoth was content to sun himself on his ledge and ignored his rider rather blatantly when asked if he’d like to be oiled, or groomed in anyway really. The bronzerider just needed something to keep himself occupied. He gave up after a few minutes with no result and began to travel the Weyr grounds.
There was a bit of activity within the Bowl; mostly riders interacting with their dragons as well as other Weyrfolk scurrying back and forth tending to their various duties. Nothing that was of interest to K’ren. That is until he spotted a particular green dragon with her head bent down conversing silently with her rider, a slender form barely recognizable from that distance. Finally some entertainment.
Straightening his shoulders, the tall bronzerider strode confidently in the direction of the greenrider pair wearing the most charming smile he could muster. As K’ren grew closer the dragon eyed him with calmly swirling blue eyes, knowing his intent and undoubtedly already informed her rider of his approach. The woman, however, didn’t turn to face him. She kept her back pointedly in the direction of the visitor.
K’ren stopped merely a few inches behind the woman, close enough to lean forward and speak next to her ear. Erezelth continued to watch him, but her eyes reflected more amusement now. “Aade, sweetheart. Why are you always so cold to me?” His smile transformed into a small frown as his voice fell to a tone that would normally have made someone feel sorry for him. Aade wasn’t to be fooled.
“K’ren, darling.” Her tone dripped with venomous mocking. The greenrider could feel him close to her back and she didn’t like it. She whirled around quickly, taking care to flip her hair in the process and causing K’ren to instinctively take a step back to avoid being whipped. She smiled inwardly, but knew he would try to get close again. “You know I always find pleasure in your company.” There was no truth to her words, yet the bronzerider smiled in response.
“Then you wouldn’t mind me asking you to lunch, hm?” This question was rewarded with a stony glare from Aade. K’ren wasn’t to be dissuaded. He rather enjoyed getting her worked up. As dangerous as it might be at least it was better than his previous aimless wanderings.
When no other response came from the woman he continued, “My little Aadekins. Would you deny me the chance to bask in the beauty of your eyes while we shared a cup of klah? Or would you prefer to wait until night fall when we could hold each other tightly underneath the starlit sky?” K’ren had been very dramatic with his dialogue and movements, as if he were the star of a play.
Aade rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest. With a sigh she exclaimed, “Shards! You are lame.” He never ceased to annoy her, and today was no exception.
“Ah!” K’ren had moved up in a flash and captured the reluctant greenrider by the waist, pulling her against his body. “Yes, you’d rather meet me in my weyr. Don’t worry, love. I won’t tell anyone.” He said this quietly in her ear and gained some satisfaction at feeling her stiffen in his arms.
She had nothing to say to this. She was better than that to fall into his little game. It infuriated her, yes, but she was no Weyrling and she would not act like one, such as this repulsive bronzerider has demonstrated. Instead she placed her hands upon his chest and shoved hard, forcing herself out of his grasp. Her next move was lightening swift and only after K’ren felt a sharp stinging on his face, head turned to the side from the impact, did he realize what happened.
Aade stormed away red-faced and fuming in the direction of the main entrance, leaving a slightly stunned but still smiling K’ren holding his reddened cheek in one hand. Erezelth lifted off, making a peculiar noise in her throat that could only be a draconic laughter and glided lazily toward her weyr ledge.
You really should learn to leave her be, Mine. Rakoth said with an air of smugness. He found the situation as amusing as the green did. Though he had remained at his perch the bronze had witnessed the entire scene through his rider’s eyes.
Ah, Rakoth. But you know I enjoy it so.
((Ah, it's always fun to throw these two together. Always get along so well...
Either is open for more intereaction, btw. But be weary =P))

((Sharding tired of playing Alesia XD *boots out her jiggly bluerider* XD))
"Oh Laaa... dee daah... Bubbly pies!" The ever tone-deaf bluerider Ratina ambled along down the corridors that connected many things amongst the Weyrstaff's meeting room, the kitchens, and even the main entrace to a wing of dragon weyrs. A huge plate was hefted easily on her shoulder, stacked high with delicious bubbly pie treats. They were so easy to make, and with ample supplies of fruits in their stores, it was a treat affordable to make for the crew of Weyrstaff including the headwoman that were bickering over rationing and inventory. The Weyrwoman had been working quite a bit to make sense of how to manage the fish and vegetables that seemed in short supply because of bad harvests due to insufficient tools, but that didn't stop the difficulties of day-to-day rationing that the headwoman had to make sense of. They'd been at it for quite some time, and debates were becoming heated to the point that fingers were being pointed at those that were supposedly not working hard enough in the Weyr. Oh well.. all in a day's work... surely bubbly pies would settle the dispute!
Suddenly, a young woman burst around a corner, nearly causing Ratina to lose her footing. "Oh!" Stumble, stagger, an amusing dance of hefty, yet dragonrider-built woman swayed and wiggled upon one foot for a few moments before barely regaining her footing, one hand going out to catch a bubbly pie that nearly escaped the plate. The normally mild-mannered woman flustered, round face reddening with rage. "You.. you little youngin'! Running about like ye've got no sense!!" A scrutinizing eye looked at the girl, recognizing the sullied young woman almost immediately. "Ah, you, Aade, what has ye dashing through the halls, nearly bowling me over?" The annoyance in her voice had not yet abated, but at least upon knowing who the person was had saved them a very good tongue lashing.

Aade had barely been paying attention to where her feet were taking her, concentrating on just tring to lengthen the distance between herself and that sharding bronzerider. She really didn't care where she went, either. She just needed somewhere to cool down. The greenrider knew that K'ren wasn't following her, Erezelth having assured her that he remained in the Bowl, and she should have slowed her pace but she was still too flustered and shot around the next corner.
There was a series of entanglement accompanied by slight cursing as Aade collided with another woman. She steadied herself on the stone wall just as the other woman deftly resuced a tumbling bubbly pie and recovered to scrutinize the greenrider. Aade heard her name and looked up at who she now saw at Ratina, face still red with anger that was now shaded anew with embarrassment.
She was not going to be about to be lectured like a child and strightened her back, staring the bluerider in the eyes. "I beg your pardon, Ratina." The greenrider was a proud woman and she reprimanded herself for being so careless. She quickly pushed back her emotions and forced herself to calm. It was not healthy for her image to be seen stroming around like a Weyrbrat with a tantrum.
Nako - March 25, 2007 11:45 PM (GMT)
Ratina kept her wary eye on the girl, seemingly more annoyed at her composure than at being run into, but she too let out a long breath, getting her wits about her before speaking. "Oh, it's alright... but what has you in such a rush, greenrider?" A bit of concern laced Ratina's features. She was a motherly sort, which seemed almost awkward since she was also an avid chaser of greenriders.. though never annoyingly so. No, she was a woman who took into account another woman's feelings.. and preferences for that matter. With her demeanor, and even her appearance though, many who did not know her would have mistaken her for a homely headwoman.
Eckos - March 26, 2007 12:56 AM (GMT)
Aade waved her hand dismissively in the air as she rolled her eyes to Ratina's questioning. "Oh. it's nothing. I've dealt it already." She looked back at the bluerider as if she were debating something within her mind. She liked Ratina, and her motherly attitude made her even more likeable. With a sigh she continued, "It's just K'ren." She grimaced as she said his name. "You know how he is. Never leaves a girl in peace."
Nako - March 26, 2007 04:31 PM (GMT)
"Oh, him" Ratina rolled her eyes, shifting the plate of pies on her shoulder and giving a derisive sniff. "You shouldn't pay him much mind. The more it bothers you, the more he like it. He seems to be harrassing everyone these days..." Her brows quirked oddly and she smirked "Even the Weyrwoman, so I hear. Nothing can be kept secret in this Weyr."
She made a dismissive gesture before Aade had a chance to respond. "But Alesia only tolerates it because Iolath is proddy. She's upside down with glee over the attention right now. I just hope this doesn't have any effect on the flight." Her face turned into the most horrid grimace. "Can you imagine K'ren as Weyrleader? Chaos!"
Eckos - March 27, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
Aade burst out in uncontrollable laughter at the bluerider's last comment. For some reason she had found it immensely amusing. "Faranth help us if that ever happens." She replied once she gained her breath again. "I would be more worried if I didn't know Alesia better. I would almost pity him if by some chance he did win." The greenrider's tone turned sarcastically solemn and added a dramatic sigh.
This run-in with Ratina had actually done well to ease Aade and she fell back into her natural demeanor. The other woman was right. She shouldn't let K'ren bother her so much. She isn't really sure why the bronzerider gets to her so much to begin with.
Nako - March 27, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
"Oh yes, Alesia would make him work for a change, and probably have his hide if he dared run off after another woman" Ratina's expression became almost devious. "But then again, we don't know just how long her gold will last in the air. It's not uncommon for inexperienced golds to be plucked from the sky quite easily the first.. and sometimes even second time." She ho-hummed at this thought.
"You know she's openly allowing browns into the flight, yes? A bit unorthodox to actually 'announce' that, but yes. I suppose she wasn't happy with the amount of bronzes.. or too much that's too close to her own blood" Ratina deftly stopped a passerby drudge, handing her the platter of bubbly pies and giving her instructions to go to the Headwoman's meeting room, but not before she deftly picked two bubbly pies from the tray, offering Aade one with a smile.
Eckos - March 28, 2007 12:20 AM (GMT)
Aade slowly nodded her head as she listened to the older woman's comments. "Yes, I know that already. My mother's Josolith was first caught by a brown. It would lessen the chance for a gold egg, but even that isn't impossible with a brown sire." She paused and smiled politely at the drudge who Ratina had stopped and passed the platter of bubbly pies to then refocused her attention to the bluerider.
"Thank you." She said in acceptance to the offered bubbly pie. "It is coming time for Iolath to rise, isn't it?" Aade, while she hadn't seen much of the gold herself the past couple sevendays, had taken note on the male dragons growing more and more restless. "I do hope she flies well, for the sake of Alesia and the Weyr." Iolath may be young, but the gold would do her best to keep an incompenent rider's dragon from catching her.
Nako - March 28, 2007 10:26 PM (GMT)
"It has -been- time for her to rise" Ratina stated bluntly, seeming a bit aggrivated. "The sharding woman.." She stopped herself, taking a breath. "She's our Weyrwoman, I know, but she's running herself exhausted.. and she blames it on the cold of the North that Iolath is sluggish to rise.." True, the sunlight and wamer weather would do wonders to heat the golden dragon up and entice her to rise, but there were other factors afoot here. "I just don't feel she's taking actions that are best around the time where Iolath should be rising."
These almost mutinous words made Ratina uncomfortable, and she shuffled her feet as she nibbled on her own bubbly pie. "Kharasi is going through a lot right now.. with the issues in Thyra, and tithes dwindling.. it's stressful on everyone, but the Weyr needs to be populated... and a queen that won't rise.. well.. you know how that goes." Was Ratina now wondering if the queen would even take to the skies? The queen was creeping into her third turn of life, and while the queens of Tiazora might have ebbed her need to procreate because of the amount of queens, she no longer had that influence as the only queen in her Weyr.
Eckos - March 29, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
"This is true. She has been taking most of the Weyr's duties onto herself." Aade agreed, shaking her head in pity. Alesia was a hard working woman and deserved her position, but she was working a little too hard and it was not healthy for her or Iolath. The Weyrwoman was doing the work that normally would be split between herself and the Weyrleader, if not more, but since her gold has yet to rise there was a lack of co-leadership, therefore taking all the responsibilities as her own.
"Alesia is dedicated to her work and cares deeply for the Weyr. She is doing her best to keep things running as they should. Honestly, she is doing a great job, but there are others she can dump her workload onto." The greenrider was never one to have hoped for a queen dragon, even as a candidate. She was grateful for her Erezelth and couldn't ask for anything better. She can imagine how stressed Alesia must be, however. Aade saw little of her mother at Tiazora, Weyrwoman duties often keeping her too busy, and Kharasi struggling as it is now would be a nightmare to run.
"She will rise soon." Aade added confidently. "There have been more bronze, and brown, transfers arriving. I think that might prode Iolath a bit, if not anything else." She smiled mischievously, imaging how the queen must be scrutinzing each new male who showed up at her Weyr.
((God, I am so rusty with my writing. Been too long. >.>))
Nako - March 29, 2007 10:28 PM (GMT)
Ratina gnawed on her lip thoughtfully; not the gentle plucking of an innocent maiden, but the chewing of the skin that led to chapped lips from a person that did it out of obnoxious habit. "Well, I'm glad that you won't let my pessimism infect you too badly. I'm just frustrated with it, I suppose. We both know that Forgoth wouldn't even think of chasing a gold, but Iolath is stirring those greens up, and.. Ugh, I just wish she'd get it over with!" To ease the tension, the robust woman laughed, waving off the tense feelings with a flick of a dainty hand... one of the only parts of her body that was indeed dainty.
"But speaking of greens, how is.. Erezelth doing?" the faint pause it took to query was brief, and any dragonrider would know that it was to beseech ones dragon as a reminder for dragon names. They were always the ones that knew.
I know -all- of the greens Forgoth remarked smugly.
Eckos - March 30, 2007 10:58 PM (GMT)
Aade laughed at Ratina's impatience towards the queen of the Weyr. "It has been frustrating everyone, I imagine. Even the firelizards are being effected." She knew this one to be very true. Her own Araki had been nothing but a pest the past couple sevendays, at his worst just recently and sent him away from her side in annoyance the other day. The little blue would return eventually, Aade loved the creature, but it was nice and peaceful at the moment.
At the question towards her dragon, Aade straightened proudly. "Erezelth is doing wonderful, as usual." She felt a mental thrum of acknowledgment from this statement from the green. "If not a little over-spoiled." The greenrider added absently and the thrum abruptly changed into an indignant snort.
And the only one to blame for that would be yourself, Mine.
Nako - March 31, 2007 04:15 AM (GMT)
"Oh, it's okay to spoil greens" Ratina grinned wolfishly, "They can be spoiled gracefully without them turning too terribly wretched." Then, Ratina's brows shot up, mildly dismayed. "Oh, I'm sorry, I'm not keeping you from anything, am I? I'm just thankful to get away from the headwoman... she's not of a friendly mindset lately."
Eckos - March 31, 2007 06:56 AM (GMT)
Aade shook her heard fervently. "No, no. I was just hiding myself. You've actually done wonders to calm me down." She replied and smiled wide at the bluerider. "But I do suppose I have a few chores to take care of. The more I put stuff off the less I feel like doing them." The greenrider added with a grimace. She was not a procrastinator by nature but she did have her moments and if not careful could let things go "forgotten".
"It was a pleasure speaking with you, Ratina. I am sure you have other things to do as well. Erezelth and I wish you and Forgoth well." Aade said and speaking for her green as she waved her hand at the other woman in a goodbye.
