Title: LoWrain the CanaYdian's experience
Description: In the states with panhandlers
quartet-man - December 30, 2006 09:37 PM (GMT)
This is typed somewhat phonetically so you see how it would sound.
Panhandler: Do you have any money?
LoWrain: Here you go.
LoWrain walks a little further and another one stops her.
I'll bet you think I would be playing favourites if I don't give to you, eh?
I'm Sore-y I gave my last dull-er to the guy up the street.
Go Barrie Colts :-)

Ummm...I know I'm walking into something here but...ummm...I don't get it.
quartet-man - December 31, 2006 12:01 PM (GMT)
I was giving you a hard time in spelling favourites and in pronunciation of the words dollar and sorry as Canadians tend to do as well as saying "eh." :P
CanChik - December 31, 2006 01:55 PM (GMT)
OK, first of all we pronounce it "DOLL-er", or rather "Loonie"...
And how else would you pronounce sorry except how it's written, lol...
And I don't say "eh", lol....
I do say "you guys", but I'm working on that...
You are just jealous cuz we speak proper English up here hehehe.... :P
quartet-man - December 31, 2006 06:15 PM (GMT)
the word sorry is pronounced saw-rey not Sew-ry. As far as dollar, I am going by Canadians such as Michael J. Fox and others I have heard who say Dole-er. :P
pattipagewhite - December 31, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
Well....I'm glad you guys cleared that up......
CanChik - December 31, 2006 09:12 PM (GMT)
Maybe it's not the way we say things but actually how you hear them :P
pattipagewhite - December 31, 2006 10:23 PM (GMT)
You mean like....enunciation is in the ear of the hearer...sort of like beauty is in the eye of the beholder.....lol
CanChik - December 31, 2006 10:34 PM (GMT)
EXACTLY Ms Patti, I don't think you'd have a problem understanding me at all! :D
VirginiaJoe - December 31, 2006 11:00 PM (GMT)
What'd she say? :whistling:
quartet-man - January 1, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
Well, I shall have to catch Michael or one of them next time and prove it to you. By the way, a friend of mine heard the same thing before when MJF was talking. :P
pattipagewhite - January 1, 2007 02:47 PM (GMT)
Kewman...have you ever been to Texas? We say "saw-rie 'bout that dollah sweetie pie".....
quartet-man - January 1, 2007 03:16 PM (GMT)
No Ma'am, I reck'n I haven't been. However, one of my best friends moved up here from there over 30 years ago. :)
pattipagewhite - January 1, 2007 03:20 PM (GMT)
Do they still talk funny.....lol
quartet-man - January 1, 2007 10:30 PM (GMT)
Well, my friend maybe does a slight bit, but probably not. When he first moved here and was 10, he did. His younger sister (who is my age) and his mom still do for the most part. :)
CanChik - January 3, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
OK, Kewman, if you think that everyone else talks funny but you, I'm guessing the problem isn't with 'everyone else'.... :P
pattipagewhite - January 3, 2007 06:13 PM (GMT)
Well...you've heard of the whole army being out of step........
