Title: American Idol Auditions

Donna - January 15, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
This Tuesday begins the American Idol Auditions. For those that watch AI, I thought it would be fun to laugh...I mean talk about the people who audition here. Talk about who does well and any early predictions.

Bekahbird - January 15, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
I am soooooooooo ready for a new season!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :Bobo:

Ok, my absolute favorite of the night was the cowardly lion impersonator <growl>
She was a hoot!!

For good singers, I liked the Army reservist (Rachel, I think?) She sang..... His Eye Is On The Sparrow....... and did very well at it until the end. I also liked the one with long curly hair, Sarah? She sang Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

She was pretty funny.............

I guess my favorite was the guy that was influenced by Chris Daughtry from last year.........the one with the rough voice. When Simon got on him about never sounding different, then sent him to do an ABBA song.........then, the boy telling Simon that he could do better, even a Barry Manilow song..........then, sounding the same way.........I thought I would crack up. :rollinglaughing:

Interestingly, Shari..........I liked the exact same two that you did. I liked Sarah the best.....think she may have a shot, if that is any indication of her voice.

Fo' real!!!!!!!!!!!

Chadley - January 17, 2007 08:14 PM (GMT)
I have to give props to the girl who sang "Somewhere Over The Rainbow". That was a gutsy audition piece to try after Katherine McPhee's rendition of it on last year's show. She will do well in the competition IF SHE PICKS THE RIGHT SONGS! Her accent just will not work in certain types of songs.

I liked both of the military people- the Navy guy and the National Guard woman. Both have good, solid voices.

Anyone else besides me notice that even Paula's comments had an edge to them last night? She's usually the "nice" one. However, some of those people needed a SERIOUS reality check! The girl who was a huge Idol fan who came in and started off singing "Why....Why.........WHY!!!!!!!!!!" had a vocal performance degree? Were her instructors tone deaf????????

Donna - January 17, 2007 11:15 PM (GMT)
I so agree Shari....why they didn't have a sign on the door was beyond me!

I also liked both of the military people. Do you think having their uniform on helps them?

I laughed so hard when the "lion" girl did her audition :rollinglaughing:

The rocker boy was so funny running around asking the others if they had heard of ABBA....lol.

So many of then last night were so heart broken when not picked and my goodness the begging

I hear tonight in Seattle, they have some really really bad singers :pullhair:

Donna - January 18, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
I did like the brother and sister who both made it to Hollywood.

The girl towards the end with the curly hair who was 16.....now she was good...I think she will go far. Was her name Jordan?

I wonder if they have a theme brewing...other door dude....lol.

quartetlover - January 18, 2007 06:19 PM (GMT)
Oh, yeah...... I liked the brother and sister too. They were really good. And the 16 yr old... I can't remember her name or what she sang....... but I remember that she was good.

Sooooooo many bad ones last night. The blonde with the bright lipstick and her mother? Oh, my! "Red" singing Bohemian Rhapsody? The girl with the pink net on her body...... at first I thought that she was just really embarrassed, and that's why her arms were pink....... it took a bit to figure out that she was wearing some sort of net. :D

And yes, Chad...... it is really good to see Paula with an edge. I get so tired of her telling people after a really bad performance that they LOOK really nice. It's a singing competition.... not a fashion show. :whack:

Chadley - January 18, 2007 06:21 PM (GMT)
I tell you what- Seattle is pretty much a dry well where talent is concerned. There were just some flat out WEIRD people there last night! THe guy who "sang" Unchained Melody almost caused me to go insane. He pretty much summed up Seattle in one audition. Simon will never be able to hear his favorite song again without thinking of that. And the Taylor Hicks wannabe kinda freaked me out too.

However, lest someone think there were no bright spots last night, I will say that the 16-year-old girl and the siblings from India are going to go pretty far.

ThunderingHerd - January 18, 2007 08:04 PM (GMT)
Shari and I liked the Navy guy who sang the Rascal Flats song...nice job I think. Plus being in the military and having on his uniform helped score him some patriotic points too!!

Donna - January 25, 2007 01:27 AM (GMT)
What did you think of Sundance Head on Tuesday night?

Chadley - January 25, 2007 06:50 PM (GMT)
I think Sundance will go far in this competition. He's got a VERY good voice.

grits64 - January 30, 2007 04:38 PM (GMT)
Ok..I gotta catch up..

Seattle was horrible...such freaky people auditioned there..(sorry Rob..lol), but of course, they came from different places too...

I thought Minneapolis was weird too.
Memphis was a tad better.

The ones who cracked me up the most were...the girl with no bra who had the red lipstick and brought her mom in with her...oh my, they were soo embarrassing!

I thought the gay acting guy last week was a HOOT..he had that feather boa or scarf or something he kept swinging.

The "lion" growling girl..wow, she just was so weird.

The poor girl with the bad teeth..wow..she was pitiful.

I thought the girl who came back from last year who kept begging them to take her...I thought she just made a fool of herself.

In Seattle..big "red" and the boy with the weird eyes...they were kinda strange..

but the one who cracked me up the most was the girl last week who all she did was mumble...lol...

my favs so far..
I loved Sundance..but I hope they shave his goatee...that bugged me..
I liked the girl who brought her best friend, and the two Indian siblings.
My fav so far was the guy Nick who came back from last year, and the girl who was the backup singer.
She was awesome!

I personally didnt think that many of them who passed thru were just awesome.
They were ok, but none of them except Sundance and the backup singer really knocked my socks off.

Can't wait til tonight..hopefully the South will rise again! :P

Chadley - January 30, 2007 05:42 PM (GMT)
Lisa, the south ALWAYS rises in these auditions! I'm looking forward to tonight!

I actually watched the show that night. I thought the lion thing was a riot...and I also liked the military woman...she was good. The girl that flew there with her boss for another chance...that was sad....and the boy who said he gave singing lessons.....lol

quartetlover - January 30, 2007 06:27 PM (GMT)
Woo hoo!! Have we converted you into an AI watcher, Patti? :flowerskiss:

grits64 - January 31, 2007 04:03 PM (GMT)
Hi, Ok..from last night in B-Ham..

The "Big Bird" lady was a TRIP! I was dying laughing at her..esp. when Simon kept asking her how old she was...lol..

And the last girl...lol..she was so crazy...

I didnt really like any of the ones from last night except the boy who thought he would keep Birmingham in the show..he was a little cocky, and I don't think Simon liked him.but I thought he did ok.

No one really knocked my socks off.
I kinda liked the Kelly Pickler clone from Reidsville, NC. The one who was really southern and had the sob story about her dad. She really reminded me of Kelly..but not quite as innocent.

Oh..and you know who I liked...the guy who had the afro..and was kinda heavy and not really goodlooking..but soo funny..the one who said he was just there to make David Hasselhoff cry...I was amazed at how well he sang...maybe they can give him a makeover.

Can't wait to see what you guys thought...

but the Big Bird lady was the funniest.

grits64 - January 31, 2007 04:04 PM (GMT)
Oh...and what did yall make of the girl with the LOONNNGG hair..wow..that was strange.

JDubya - January 31, 2007 04:15 PM (GMT)
I actually stopped long enough to watch it...first time ever...and yes I am now hooked. The big bird lady got just what she was after....she was on Fox news today. Lawd, some people will do anything.....she is trying to come off as "ignant" but look in her eyes. That chick knows what she is doing.

I thought the long hair girl and her mom were like, part of a really strict heavily dogmatic denomination of some sort, escpecially when she hugged the old guy, who was most likely dad, and had that holy look about him. She sang well, but like they put it, nothing earth-shattering. Thoughts of Jim Jones came to mind.....lol

The last girl is why trailer-trash/ghetto-rejects (pick one) should not be on TV........can we live without BLEEP BLEEEEEEEP BLEEEEEEEEEEP in conversation and television? Please? Or does everything you watch have to sound like an episode of Jerry Springer.

I thought the heavily accented girl from NC was a little too pathetic...she appeared to be innocent, but her attire and the phrase on her shirt belied all that. Wonder if her story checks out? Poor kid...."but it's ok" she kept saying.....if her story is true I hope she makes it.

The afro haired guy who wanted to make Hasselhoff cry...I liked him...I related to that kid right off the bat. I have to disagree with you on the makeover though Thelmer Lou....let the kid be who he is and if the public don't buy it, it's their loss.

So far they have "discovered" an overweight black guy (Ruben) who looked like a linebacker but wound up being an ace crooner....and of course the long haired hippy looking guy who could indeed sing (Bo)....and let's not forget mister gray himself (Taylor). I know there are more, but these come to mind. Oh, I forgot that anorexic looking kid...what's his name...Clay, yeah that's it. I am cool with 'em all....of course, that Joe Cocker thing that Kelly C. does with her hand while she is singing sort of irritates me, lol. I saw her on a CMT Special recently and I was like "Wow...someone get that girl a baton or something....lawdamercy"

Well, thats my take from a newbie now made an addict.....

quartetlover - January 31, 2007 06:21 PM (GMT)
I'm glad to hear that you've joined the AI lovers, JW. :D

I really liked the guy who wanted to make David Hasselhoff cry too. He was awesome! He sang Kiss From A Rose by Seal, right? Great song, and he did a great job. Paula was a bit overly happy on that.

I also liked the blonde with the sob story of her father.

The girl with the long hair...... she was sweet, and a good singer..... I just don't like that hair. I can't believe Randy thought it was "hot". Different strokes for different folks. Not that her hair has anything to do with her singing..... LOL

pattipagewhite - January 31, 2007 08:40 PM (GMT)
Well.....I admit it....I watched again....it's soooooooooooo funny sometimes....I think you're right JW about "Big Bird" Bertha.....she's crazy like a fox....but she was so pathetic, as was the last one who thought she was the "whole package". Depends on what you want in your package I suppose.

I was surprised by the curly headed guy also, he sang much better than I expected and I was actually surprised they gave him a chance. That just goes to show you they're pretty fair.

I had to wonder about the girl with the holey britches and the sob story....who on earth would tell the world on national tv that you're daddy shot his wife after catching her "in the act" and then shot himself in the throat leaving himself hopelessly paralyzed...hello?

I sort of liked the girl with the long hair, she was sweet and genuine. Maybe it's my "Pentecostal" roots...lol....but I always wanted hair down to the floor. But I really didn't think she needed to go to Hollywood....

There was one other that I really liked...I think it was the one that sounded like a little girl until she sang and her voice completely changed....

Chadley - January 31, 2007 09:32 PM (GMT)
Nobody really "blew me away" as far as being a good singer last night. There were some decent ones, though- like the guy with the curly hair.

grits64 - February 1, 2007 04:54 PM (GMT)
Ok..last night...I have to say...the best part was Sherman...the old man that had just lost his "lady love" to cancer...he had me bawling my eyes out! I thought that was just the most precious thing ever..I will never forget him and he had a great voice! It was soo smooth and sweet.

No one really excited me last night, but I did like the back up singer who sang Always On My Mind.

Ok..the panther dude.....how weird was that?? But, he had me just laughing uncontrollably..lol..I really laughed when he said he was probably the best performer ever.

I kinda like the Elena girl..she was pretty and had a decent voice..I think she was just nervous..but Simon liked her.

I thought the guy from last year that came back wasn't bad..but Simon really didn't like him for some reason.

But, all in all, the best part of last night was Sherman...as a matter of fact, I'm gonna make him my fav song of the day on here.

That was really a story of true love.

Donna - February 1, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
I was bawling too Lisa....wow

I was interupted so much by the phone last night but I don't recall anyone really standing out to me.

I did laugh at the end when the guy couldn't sing and Simon saw where he had taken the voice lesson CD from Paula and Randy.....Simon can be such a little kid...hehehe

quartetlover - February 1, 2007 05:49 PM (GMT)
Yeah, nothing stood out for me last night either.... except Sherman. Count me in as one who was bawling my eyes out. He was a really good singer too.

What excited me more than anything, was when they said that next Tuesday is the last of the auditions....... so Wednesday should start the auditions in Hollywood!! Woo hoo!! Bring on the good stuff!

grits64 - February 7, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
Last night...I was glad they gave that girl Ashlyn a second chance..but her facial expressions did annoy me. But, she might improve..she had potential I think.

I really liked the last guy..the one who was like Ruben. And, I thought the country girl was really cute and a very good singer..I think she will go far..just a hunch.

I think tonight is the worst or best of the auditions..then it will start next week in Hollywood..I'm so glad..I'm ready to get this thing started.

The one that left me the most baffled was the girl who tried to sing and was holding her ear and you couldn't understand her words....that was strange.

Donna - February 9, 2007 06:06 AM (GMT)
This last time I liked Ebony.

The guy sure messed up my song  Oh Donna

quartetlover - February 16, 2007 09:44 PM (GMT)
I guess I didn't remember how fast Hollywood week goes on this show. It's so sad that they put us through all of those horrible auditions for weeks and weeks, and they finish Hollywood week in two episodes. I really enjoyed the four-man group..... the one with the guy who did the beat box thing. They rocked!

I'm looking forward to the real thing this week!

Donna - February 16, 2007 10:11 PM (GMT)
I agree with you Shari....it went way too fast this week.

I am really liking Chris S.

Oh, yeah! The dude with the big, curly hair. He's a hoot! Not many of them stood out much for me. I like the guy who's sister didn't make it through.... Sanjaya.... and the bald dude who first came in wearing a Navy uniform (I believe)? Phil?

Donna - February 20, 2007 08:00 PM (GMT)
I think tonight is the 12 guys. It will be good to see the singers battle it out now.

Chadley - February 20, 2007 08:24 PM (GMT)
I agree, Donna. As much as I like the comical auditions, this is the part of the competition that I've been waiting for.

sab2000sab - February 21, 2007 03:20 AM (GMT)
Top 12 guys.. I hope it is good!

From what I remember.. the guys overall are better than the girls.. so we shall see..

Rudy Cardenas - Fun song.. singing is not that good I think.. I liked his audition they showed. Hmm.. his pitch seemed good.. but his voice doesn't match the song I don't think... Overall .. not horrible, but no where near awesome.

Brandon Rogers - I'm expecting a lot from him!.. lol I like his smokey voice.. Oh I am not liking this song with him.. I was disappointed with this.. forgetable.. oh well.. I agree with simon.. at first I was like "Ohh this is gonna be good".. I was wrong.. lol

Sundance Head - I think this is a good song for him.. I liked it except for they way he was saying his words.. Dad said that is how Moody Blues sounded.. lol He was sharp, though. It was kind of boring, but i thought it was ok. Hmm.. The judges didn't like it.. lol

Paul Kim - Oy.. I can't understand what this guy is singing.. This is not good at all.. Goodbye. BTW.. the no shoes thing is kinda silly.. lol

Chris Richardson - I've not been to happy with this guy up until now.. We shall see.. UHM.. No.. lol this is not working for him.. he needs to let Bo keep this.. lol His voice, his suit.. not working for this song.. lol.. He seems like a little kid trying to sing a grown up song..

Nick Pedro - I love this song.. and how Richard Marx sings it.. lets see how he does it.. So far.. I like it the best of all the singers.. I like his voice.. but don't know how *universal* it is.. Yeah, Simon!!.. lol I agree with him!

Blake Lewis - I like this guy.. He had a few problems.. but overall.. I think it was pretty good.. I don't know if this was HIM though.. or he was singing like someone else (but I just don't know who).. lol I think he pulled it off pretty good! He did sound now.. I agree with Simon.. it was the best so far. I like him!

Sanjaya Malakar - (Side note: These songs are all so mellow.. there hasn't been any excitement really.. ) This song is so boring and elevatorish.. too bad.. I don't think he could win.. but he and his sis seem so sweet.. Poor Sanjaya..

Chris Sligh - OK.. so now the competition started I think.. He sounded a little winded.. but I think he really pulled it off well! Hmm.. I don't agree with Simon on this one.. lol WOAHH.. I can't believe he said that about Il Divo.. Simon's babies.. lol.. woah.. lol Simon wasn't happy.. lol Did Simon have something to do with the Teletubbies??.. hmm.. nm I don't want to know.. lol

Jared Cotter - hmm.. he was a little rough.. but I like his voice.. the begining was the best part.. overall, it was ok.. but he was nasally.. Oh.. Simon agreed with me.. LOL funny..

A.J. Tabaldo - He is a little whiny.. I don't really care for his voice that much.. He is getting lost in the song it feels like.. It was ok.. safe..

Phil Stacey - I hope he does good.. I liked him a lot in HW.. ooh.. he sounded off in the begining.. He did pretty good once he got going.. I like it! I think he did quite well!! I'm happy! He won tonight by a landslide!

My favorites are Phil Stacey, Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis, and Nick Pedro.. My favorite song was Nick Pedro's..

Going home.. hmm I think ppl like Sanjaya too much to send home.. but he is likely very low on the rope.. Paul Kim will go home I believe.. I think Sundance could be going too.. aw well..

Hmm.. my comment about the guys being better.. I think I might have to take that back for now.. lol

VirginiaJoe - February 21, 2007 03:42 AM (GMT)
Hey Sally......welcome back :)

I like the way you post as they are singing. That way you don't have to worry about remembering. I agree............if this is the best the guys have to offer, then we will have a gal winner this year.

ThunderingHerd - February 21, 2007 01:08 PM (GMT)
I was not too impressed with the guys last night. Maybe i just expected too much this early in the competition. I hope the girls can step it up a notch tongiht.

Chadley - February 21, 2007 03:11 PM (GMT)
OK, it's a consensus. If the guys don't MAJORLY step it up, this year's American Idol will be one of the ladies. Aside from Phil, Chris Sligh, and Blake Lewis (in that particular order), NOBODY really stood out and most of them were "flat".

Donna - February 21, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
I guess time will tell. I think most of the guys were too nervous to just belt it out and sing. Maybe the girls will have learned from the guys mistake.

Bekahbird - February 21, 2007 05:40 PM (GMT)
I took the easy way out & copied Salsa's post....hehehehe.....her words are in black & mine ar ein purple...

Rudy Cardenas - Fun song.. singing is not that good I think.. I liked his audition they showed. Hmm.. his pitch seemed good.. but his voice doesn't match the song I don't think... Overall .. not horrible, but no where near awesome.....I agree, I think he has way too much pelvis swinging going on, too...lolol.....

Brandon Rogers - I'm expecting a lot from him!.. lol I like his smokey voice.. Oh I am not liking this song with him.. I was disappointed with this.. forgetable.. oh well.. I agree with simon.. at first I was like "Ohh this is gonna be good".. I was wrong.. lol....I agree again...he has a spectacular voice, but he's gonna have to show it...

Sundance Head - I think this is a good song for him.. I liked it except for they way he was saying his words.. Dad said that is how Moody Blues sounded.. lol He was sharp, though. It was kind of boring, but i thought it was ok. Hmm.. The judges didn't like it.. lol...I didn't like his pronunciation either (sp??)...he's one of my faves so far tho...

Paul Kim - Oy.. I can't understand what this guy is singing.. This is not good at all.. Goodbye. BTW.. the no shoes thing is kinda silly.. lol...needs to put the shoes back on...he's a good vocalist tho...just needs some learin'...lol...

Chris Richardson - I've not been to happy with this guy up until now.. We shall see.. UHM.. No.. lol this is not working for him.. he needs to let Bo keep this.. lol His voice, his suit.. not working for this song.. lol.. He seems like a little kid trying to sing a grown up song.. ...okay me & Salsa finally disagree...lol...I think he is super talented and could easily go all the way...he keeps getting compared to Justin T...I actually think he is far more talented than Justin....that song is a very hard song to sing and stay on key so I thought he did an excellent job...

Nick Pedro - I love this song.. and how Richard Marx sings it.. lets see how he does it.. So far.. I like it the best of all the singers.. I like his voice.. but don't know how *universal* it is.. Yeah, Simon!!.. lol I agree with him!...I think he did a good job...just needs a little more charisma....

I like him!...I think he could be my fave...such a distinct voice too...and he is majorly talented...

Sanjaya Malakar - (Side note: These songs are all so mellow.. there hasn't been any excitement really.. ) This song is so boring and elevatorish.. too bad.. I don't think he could win.. but he and his sis seem so sweet.. Poor Sanjaya..next please....lolol....

Chris Sligh - OK.. so now the competition started I think.. He sounded a little winded.. but I think he really pulled it off well! Hmm.. I don't agree with Simon on this one.. lol WOAHH.. I can't believe he said that about Il Divo.. Simon's babies.. lol.. woah.. lol Simon wasn't happy.. lol Did Simon have something to do with the Teletubbies??.. hmm.. nm I don't want to know.. lol...wow...someone actually really "got to" Simon...go Chris!!!....lol....I like this guy...super charisma going on...could easily make it in the entertainment industry.....

Jared Cotter - hmm.. he was a little rough.. but I like his voice.. the begining was the best part.. overall, it was ok.. but he was nasally.. Oh.. Simon agreed with me.. LOL funny..ok this is sad...I can't even remember his performance....lol....oh my...what did he sing??...hmmmm....someone help a sister out.....lol....

A.J. Tabaldo - He is a little whiny.. I don't really care for his voice that much.. He is getting lost in the song it feels like.. It was ok.. safe..I totally hope he goes home quick...all I'm gonna say...lol...

Phil Stacey - I hope he does good.. I liked him a lot in HW.. ooh.. he sounded off in the begining.. He did pretty good once he got going.. I like it! I think he did quite well!! I'm happy! He won tonight by a landslide!....AWESOME!! He does remind me of Chris Daughtry in a way tho....definitely not their voices...but both tremendous vocalists with wives and familes and a chance to make it big and both very deserving......awesome voice....

My favorites are Phil Stacey, Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis, and Nick Pedro.. My favorite song was Nick Pedro's..I have to agree even tho I'm afraid Nick won't make it far and I'd have to add Sundance...when he truly sings with all his soul he is amazing....

Going home.. hmm I think ppl like Sanjaya too much to send home.. but he is likely very low on the rope.. Paul Kim will go home I believe.. I think Sundance could be going too.. aw well.. I'll agree about Sanjaya...but I think that AJ will be the first to go....hopefully....lololol.....

Hmm.. my comment about the guys being better.. I think I might have to take that back for now.. lol...me too....roflol....

Keep up the accurate posting, Salsa...please......lolol....
