Galatians 6:2- "Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ."
I truly believe that, as a society, we have long since lost sight of this principle. We are trained from an early age to look out only for ourselves. In fact, if we can push our problems or responsibilities off on others, then so much the better- they're not our problems anymore! However, this is not a Biblical approach to life.
We are called to not only carry our own burdens, but to assist others in carrying theirs as well. We are called to "esteem others better" than ourselves. We are called to have unselfish attitudes. This is part of what Jesus meant when He told us to "love thy neighbor as thyself". The more that Christians help each other, the easier everyone's burden is to carry. I think that it would also make it more difficult for Satan to discourage believers, thus lessening the effectiveness of one of his most powerful weapons.
What can we do to help fellow Christians bear their burdens? Honestly, the list is only limited by our imaginations. The easiest thing to do is to pray for them, and I encourage you to be an active prayer warrior on the behalf of others. However, I also encourage you to look for ways that you can do more to help others, if possible. In doing so, we will become more and more Christlike.
I wanted to add something here in the wake of Roger Bennett's passing. I didn't know Roger personally, but I do know of his testimony. He was definitely a man who exhibited the unselfishness that the text verse of our devotional speaks of. I am also reminded of the unselfishness of countless people around our country not so long ago when Roger's family needed help with his medical bills. His unselfishness and his ministry had touched so many, and it was wonderful to see those same people willing and able to return that back to him. That, in a nutshell, was a perfect example of what Paul was writing in Galatians 6:2.
Please continue to pray for the Bennett family. Roger was a blessing to many through his ministry, and he will be greatly missed.
Amen Preach on Bro. Chad. Thanks for the encouragement you give to others
Another great devotional, Chad. Good reminder that we don't live in a vacuum.
God's reason for us being here was so we could have relationship with Him, and this is best demonstrated by our relationship with others.
Thanks for these words this week!
That was great Chad..thank you for all you do for us on here.
