Mark 11:1-6
1. And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, unto Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples,

2. And saith unto them, Go your way into the village over against you: and as soon as ye be entered into it, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose him, and bring him.

3. And if any man say unto you, Why do ye this? say ye that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he will send him hither.

4. And they went their way, and found the colt tied by the door without in a place where two ways met; and they loose him.

5. And certain of them that stood there said unto them, What do ye, loosing the colt?

6. And they said unto them even as Jesus had commanded: and they let them go.

Easter week is a very special week to us as Christians because of what it represents. For that reason, I will be doing a devotional every day this week- all the way through Easter Sunday. We will be taking a look at some of the events in the final week of Jesus' earthly life.

Our text today covers the first part of the story of Jesus' trumphant entry into Jerusalem. This is the part of the story that most everyone reads or tells as thbough it was an afterthought. The focus always seems to be on the triumphant entry itself. Now, admittedly, that is the most important part of the story. However, let's not miss the message that God has for us in every part of the story.

Jesus had a job for two of His disciples- to go and get him a colt. He told them exactly where they could find the colt. He described the exact colt in detail. He even told them what to say when/if the owner(s) asked them why they were taking the colt. Jesus had given them jobs to do before, but never before had He been this specific. I can only imagine that they probably commented to each other on that very subject as they went to carry out His bidding.

Scripture goes on to tell us that everything happened for these two disciples exactly as Jesus said it would. This seems like such a small thing for the Master to be that concerned about, and yet He took the time and effort to set these things into place in a specific way. As I read this, I was reminded that we serve a God who loves us and cares about us enough to work out every detail of our lives- small or large. There is nothing that pertains to us that is to "small" or "insignificant" for Him to care about and take notice of. Many times we don't bring things to Him in prayer because we think they're too small to "worry the Lord with". However, the Lord wants us to bring everything to Him! He cares for His children that much!

As we think about Easter week, let's focus on the great love of the One who gave His life for us. What a wonderful God we serve!
