Title: Missions Trip
Description: My sister goes to Zimbabwe
CanChik - April 27, 2007 10:38 AM (GMT)
Hi Folks....
Cindy leaves for Zimbabwe today. I did a story about it
here ...
There is 8 in the group and they will be gone for 18 days, helping with the feeding program at 9 different AIDS children's villages, as well as doing children's programs.
Please pray for:
=health
=safety (I would like her to come back, lol)
=that they will be a blessing to the kids and moms (in each children's 'house' there are 7 kids and one 'mom', a worker that looks after these orphan children)
=Salvation - that the children will find Jesus and the group can leave the true Hope with them
=That each of the missionaries will learn from the Father and lean on Him
=That they will come back with a deeper love for the Father and for reaching others with His love
Thanks so much for your prayers!!!

Wow, that's great, Lorraine. I will pray for all of these things for Cindy and her group. I pray that it is a great blessing for everyone involved.

Thanks for your prayers, Shari, and all of you that have thought of the team in Africa...
We got a call that they'd arrived in Zimbabwe yesterday, safe and sound, along with ALL their luggage, lol....and already attended a church service and were having lunch by the time they called at 7am.
They begin work at the first Village of Hope today, with a feeding program and afternoon session of bible stories, songs and crafts.

That's great, Lorraine......keep us posted on the events over there. I will have Cindy and her friends in my prayers, too.

Hey Joe, thanks for your interest...sorry I'm so behind!
Zimbabwe is seven hours ahead of my time zone, which I thought was interesting.
On May first, the team did a feeding program and a teaching/fun program with the kids in "Masvingo".
Yesterday, they had a visit to the Great Zim Ruins before going to "Zvishavane" where they served lunch and did a program with the kids. Then they left for an Antelope Park in Gweru where they stayed overnight.
Today, May 3, the group will be touring the park before going to Nketa where they will be serving the kids and doing another program.
So they do get a bit of sightseeing mixed in with the mission work, which is cool!
Please keep praying for the team. Not only for health and safety, but also that they won't be concerned about what's happening back home. A lot of them have family members that they are worried about, please pray for peace that God has everything under control.
Thanks so much, all of you!

Hey Folks...just a reminder and a thank you to keep praying for the 8 member Zimbabwe team from our church.
This past Friday they presented children's programs in two separate villages and did a feeding program as well. Saturday they did one children's program and food distribution.
Today they will have gone to a church service in Wozani and then they drove to Victoria Falls where they get to do some sightseeing...tomorrow, as they are driving all afternoon.
Tomorrow is a relaxing day of sightseeing and a visit to a local market. I'm sure they will be happy for a break by this time.
Thanks to you all for your interest and don't forget to pray...

Thanks for the updates, Lorraine. I'm still praying for everyone in the group, and the ones that they are ministering to, also.

Since I wrote last, the Team had a couple of days of sightseeing, Victoria Falls and then a safari (because you need to do that in Africa!!).
On Wednesday they had a kid's program and distributed food in a place called Kwekwe.
Thursday they had a free day. Friday was another feeding program and then a visit to the Pentecostal Assemblies college in Harare. Today they get some free time and then do a youth program in the afternoon.
Sunday they begin their trek home.
Thank you all for your continued prayers for their safety and health.
The Team flies first to London England on Sunday, and then on Monday flies home to Canada to arrive here around 5pm.

What a great and rewarding adventure that must be, Lorraine. To see a different part of the world and it's culture.........and to do mission work for children at the same time.........how blessed your sister and her friends must feel. Be sure and tell her that she is appreciated by those of us who have never done those things.

Well, the team got home last night, safe and sound and very tired.
Thank you to all of you that were praying.
