Title: Bass feature needed
quartet-man - May 7, 2007 09:37 PM (GMT)
Hi, I will explain more later, but I am looking for a song that preferably features basses a ton. The harder, more time, more range the better to the point of being overkill, if possible. I prefer a religious one, but secular might work too. I also prefer it to be one that is available for a choir (but if not, I can arrange it.)
This song might be something like Movin' Up To Glory Land, Jubilee's A Comin' and the like.

what about
Going Home
How GReat Thou Art?
Our Bass singer does a fantastic job on these two songs. along with Just a little talk with Jesus. just to name a couple

Thanks. This is for an object lesson of sorts. I need something to really work the basses hard and doesn't have many of the same notes in a row or them backing anyone else. Someone else backing them would be good.

How about "Led Out of Bondage" or "Samson" both which featured Big Chief Wetherington with the Sensational Statesmen Quartet. Also one that Billy Todd did with the Florida Boys comes to mind. I can not come up with the exact name...maybe it is "I Came Here to Stay". Anyway, it is the one where he says "...It's a battlefield brother not a recreation room....!"

Seems I remember Jay Simmons being featured on a good bass song, way back when...........I think it was called "You Oughta Been There".
If the song is for this week, a good choice would be "If I Could Hear My Mother Pray Again". London Paris used to do a good bass version of that song.
Not knowing exactly what you are looking for, these songs may be way off base.
Others include "God Made A Way", "I Want To Get Closer" and "Rainbow Of Love".

| Looking for a City |
I think "Looking for a City" features the tenor rather than the bass. Possibly you're confusing it with another similar song with a bass lead called "O What a Savior."

Possibly slower than what you are looking for but "I Can Tell You Now the Time" might be a possibility

Thanks everyone. I'll try to get back here later with more info.
