Psalm 130:5- "I wait for the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in his word do I hope."
As you read Scripture, every once in a while you come across a statement that just seems to drip with faith. This verse is just such a statement.
What does it really mean to "wait for the Lord"? I'll tell you what many think it means, and I base this on simple observation and experience. For many, waiting on the Lord involves:
1. frustration that God isn't acting according to their timetable
2. impatience with God's timing
3. worry over when God is going to work
4. attempts at figuring out how to solve their own problems or "fix" the situation themselves
Does this sound familiar to you? I know it does to me. However, I don't get the sense from this verse that this is how David waited on God. Rather, I get the sense that he gave his problem(s) to the Lord and then patiently waited on Him to work as He saw fit. There was no frustration or anger- just simple, childlike faith. Remember, as a child, the faith you put in your parents that they would take care of you and do what they said they would do? Remember the confidence you had that, no matter what, Mom and Dad had the answer? That's the sense I get here, and that's how I think God wants us to wait on Him.
What are you facing today? Have you given it to the Lord in true, childlike faith? If you're anything like me, this can be a difficult area in your life. So, let's give it some extra attention. Remember- Scripture tells us that we can't please our Lord without faith!
thanks Pastor Chad for reminding us to always give all our worries and cares to GOD and Wait for GOD's timing not ours (PQ"s)
Wonderful WORD Pastor Chad! Thanks so much for taking time to encourage us each week. Every answer I've ever needed I've found in the WORD, I wonder how people live without the strength, wisdom and power that lies therein, don't you? :flowers:
