Joshua 4:5-7
5. And Joshua said unto them, Pass over before the ark of the Lord your God into the midst of Jordan, and take you up every man of you a stone upon his shoulder, according unto the number of the tribes of the children of Israel:
6. That this may be a sign among you, that when your children ask their fathers in time to come, saying, What mean ye by these stones?
7. Then ye shall answer them, That the waters of Jordan were cut off before the ark of the covenant of the Lord; when it passed over Jordan, the waters of Jordan were cut off: and these stones shall be for a memorial unto the children of Israel for ever.
God told Joshua to take 12 stones- one for each tribe of Isreal- from the midst of the Jordan River and use them to build an altar of memorial. When their children and grandchildren would see it and ask about it, they were to tell them that it represented all that God had done for Israel. God knew how important it was that these things not be forgotten.
Here in the U.S., Memorial Day is a holiday of remembrance. Specifically, we remember those who gave their lives in the service of our country in the armed forces. However, we also remember others who have passed on. So, while we are in a remembering mindset, let's be sure to not leave the Lord out of the picture. We need to always remember the things which the Lord has done for us, for in doing so we will strengthen our faith in Him for the future. Scripture tells us that we serve a God who is the same yesterday, today, and forever- He never changes. If He had the wisdom and power to help us in the past, then He has the wisdom and power to help us now and in the future.
Let's put this into practice this week here on the SGM Radio message boards. Think of one thing- be it big or small- that the Lord has done for you this past year. Then, share it with us in a post on this thread. In this way, you will be reminded once again of God's goodness to you, and others who read this can see it as a testimony to what He can do for them as well. Happy Memorial Day!
thank you Pastor Chad for reminding us to always Keep our Savior and all HE HAS DONE For us on our minds and to share it with all who GOD blesses to put into our paths.
today I had the occasion to hold hands with one of my bosses and have her to share her faith with us as we held hands and prayed to bless the food we were about to partake of. It was awesome to hear her share her faith, with us and GOD continued to bless us. I was able to just sit and listen to another teacher share her faith in Our LORD as her husband had open heart surgery 2 years ago. IT was an awesome worship service... yea in the Public school system. I thank GOD For allowing me to able to just be there.

This is a great idea, Chad. I love to read of the great things that God has done.
My dad's side of the family seems to have a lot of problems. My dad has been married five times. He didn't speak to me or my sister for many years, because we still liked wife #4 and still talked to her every now and then. Wife #5 caused huge problems over that, and Dad took her side. My grandmother didn't speak to me for years because I spoke up and told her that Dad wasn't perfect, and I wished she wouldn't treat him like he was (you can't say those things to a 90-something year old.... I think they're set in their ways by then.)
My dad didn't speak to his sister for years... over something that I can't even remember. Dad's sister hasn't spoken to one of her sons for years... again, I don't remember why.
Anyway...... after MUCH, MUCH prayer, and a face-to-face meeting in a crowded auditorium, and many tears, my dad is speaking to me and my sister. And he has tears in his eyes every time we part. My grandmother is finally speaking to me, and finally came around to hugging me and telling me that she loves me once again. My dad ran into his sister at my grandmother's place, and they decided to put things in the past and are now speaking again! It was SOOOOO good to see them together a couple of weeks ago. Now, all we have left is getting my aunt (his sister) to speak to her son again. I'm still praying for good results in that situation. And I thank GOD for what HE has done in our family so far. \o/
