Daniel 1:8- "But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king's meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself."
We know Daniel as a man of strong convictions. He was willing to stand up for them no matter what. The secret to this courage is found in our text verse: "Daniel purposed in his heart". As a young man, Daniel let God get hold of his heart, and commitments made from the heart are lasting commitments.
As Christians, we need to make some "heart commitments" about serving the Lord. So many Christians make shallow "head decisions" that don't last and don't mean anything. As a result, we see many Christians who are not faithful in their service to the Lord. We need to follow Daniel's example and let God get hold of our hearts in a big way. This, my friends, is what leads to faithfulness in service.
The world needs to see Christians who are faithful. The world needs to see Christians who have Biblical convictions and are willing to stand up for them. Look at the impact that Daniel had on those around him. Look at how the Lord blessed him. I don't know about you, but that's what I want personally for my life. Have you let God get hold of your heart today?
P.S.- I apologize for being late in posting this. Things were just piling on me yesterday!
thanks Pastor Chad for the devotions. Thanks for reminding us to always let GOD do a HEART change and not a head change on us. When our Lord and Father gets a hold of our Heart we wont be the same, neither will our lives be the same. Others around us will be able to see God's love in us through our actions, attitude as well as what comes from our heart. I believe hold heartly in the scripture that says The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart, From the Overflow of the Heart the mouth speaks. Luke 6:45 and also As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man. (Pr 27:19) Thanks again for your consistant and rewarding devotions.
What a great job pastor just what I needed
