Here in the U.S., Independence Day falls in the middle of this week. This is when we as Americans celebrate our citizenship in this great country. We wear patriotic colors, sing patriotic songs, hold special patriotic events- all in honor of this country that we love and defend.
However, the sad thing is that, for the remainder of the year, many take their citizenship in this country for granted. Before salvation, a person is a "spiritual foreigner". At the point of salvation, though, a person gains eternal citizenship in Heaven. The rights and privileges of citizenship are conferred upon them at that time. The thing is, with rights and privileges also come responsibilities.
Are you a citizen of Heaven? If so, do you live like it? Do you embrace the responsibilities of that citizenship? This is the type of Christian that God wants us to be, for it's what a lost and dying world needs to see.
P.S.- Sorry for being late with this week's devotional.
a very good inspirational and reminding devotional, Pastor. Thanks.
