Psalm 89:1- "I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations."
This particular verse is one that has been put to music, and it's sung in many churches across the country today. However, have we ever really stopped to consider all the ramifications of what this verse says?
It would be easy to look at this verse and say that it talks about praising and lifting up the Lord for all that He has done. This would not be incorrect, but let's follow it through farther than we normally do. You see, if you're choosing to praise Him, then it means that you are not murmuring and complaining. Many only praise the Lord when things are going well. When things don't go so well, however, you'll find them complaining and grumbling. There are no conditions in this verse. The person who wrote this verse, I believe, was choosing a lifestyle rather than a one-time-action.
How about your lifestyle? Is it one of praise or one of grumbling? May we all mke the same lifestyle commitment described in this verse. What a powerful witness that would be!
