Title: Grand Ole Gospel Reunion!
Description: Who is going?

Gayla - August 2, 2007 10:29 PM (GMT)
Hidee Y'all,
I haven't had much time to post lately; however, I promise I read everyday! I was just wondering who is going to the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion this year?! I can not wait! We leave next Tuesday (August 7) and spend the night somewhere when Mother gets tired of riding! <smile>! We drive on into Knoxville by early afternoon on Wednesday. As I said, I can not wait! I love GOGR!!!

Norm - August 2, 2007 11:35 PM (GMT)
Although I live in Canada, I fly out of Buffalo (90 minutes from my house) on Wednesday morning and hope to be in Knoxville (via Charlotte) by 4 pm Wednesday.

I'm looking forward to it and to seeing the folks I know as well as meet any new ones especially those who post on this board.

VirginiaJoe - August 2, 2007 11:42 PM (GMT)
We will make the 3 1/2 hour drive down I-81 next Wednesday morning for what is the hi-lite of our year.......every year. Just like Gayla, I have been to the GOGR every year except for the very first one, in 1988. I look forward to seeing everyone.

JohnCBoy - August 3, 2007 06:21 AM (GMT)
I'm thinking about possibly going this year. . .

VirginiaJoe - August 4, 2007 01:17 AM (GMT)
I hope you can make it, John. :whistling:

I wonder what Charlie will do to celebrate the 20th year of the GOGR?

Gayla - August 4, 2007 05:01 AM (GMT)
You'd better be there, John! <smile!> Seriously, the GOGR is the place where I have been privileged to meet John C., Dean Adkins, Joe, Norm, and so many other marvelous people! It also allowed me to meet and hear in person many of my heroes from Quartet Music that I would never had the opportunity to meet otherwise!

Thenewsisout - August 5, 2007 02:53 AM (GMT)
I might slip out that way this year. :D

I owe a lot to Grand Ole Gospel. My love for gospel music in particular, a lot of dear friends that I've made, and my really cool screenname...all because of GOGR.

lindasholar - August 5, 2007 03:43 AM (GMT)
I'm planning on being there, and look forward to seeing the folks I already know, and meeting new ones.

VirginiaJoe - August 6, 2007 10:51 PM (GMT)
Who are you looking most forward to seeing this week at the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion?

I am anxious to see the Booth Brothers after a couple of years away.
I am also anxious to see the new members of the various groups, since last year.

VirginiaJoe - August 7, 2007 07:38 PM (GMT)
It will also be good to see David Hester back this year, after missing the GOGR last year. I love David.

Brent J. - August 8, 2007 03:18 AM (GMT)
My wife and I will be there! :)

adkinsdean - August 8, 2007 01:28 PM (GMT)
My brother Toney & I will arrive Thur afternoon. As JD would say, "I can't wait!"

Some of my hi-lites at GOGR.......

1- Seeing Dean, Gayla, Linda and some other friends.....

2- Getting to spend time with Norm, who sat with us at the concerts.....

3- Watching JohnCBoy on stage with the Sunshine Boys......you rocked, John.

4- Getting to meet Kenny Gates and spending a few minutes with him....really nice man.

5- Talking with Little David Young........the piano player at the very first concert that I ever attended.

5- Seeing one of my favorite people.......Horace Parrish (Rebels Quartet).....I wasn't expecting Horace to be there, so that was really cool.

Norm - August 13, 2007 09:01 PM (GMT)
After visits to Washington and Buffalo airports, I got home by 7 pm Sunday from a great GOGR. I thought the Thursday and Saturday evening programs were especially excellent.

One of the highlights happened at the Friday night jam session when Josh Garner, Jonathon Sawrie, Scoot Shelnut, Gerald Williams and Andrew Ishee formed a quartet and earned a standing ovation for "Standing by the River."

It was great to talk again to a number a number of the posters and readers here and a surprise to see one of them (John Crenshaw) performing on the stage. Ill be watching for his new CD.

I just want to thank those of you who attended GOGR this year. It was my privilege to chat with some of you and also to meet a few of you that I had not had to pleasure of meeting before.
And yes is was good to see John C. on stage with Sunshine Boys...Eddie told me he was thinking about taking the group on the road...What about it Mr. C ??
Thank you for supporting Charlie and the GOGR..
Hope to see each of you at GOGR again next year...
BUT WHERE ??

Speaking of fine gentlemen..........there is one of the finest. I should have mentioned you on my post, Wayne. It was definitely special, talking with you in Knoxville. I hope you will visit us here, now that you have joined.

I wouldn't be surprised to see us back in Greenville next year, by the way.

Saturday night at the breakfast following the concert, I was seated next to eerjd, and it was nice to meet her. And I learned what her screen name means. Does everyone else already know?

Linda,
I don't think a lot of people are aware of the source of eerjd's screen name. BTW, that was a "fun" table, wasn't it.

Hey Wayne, glad you're here.

We did have a wonderful time. Great memories.

I think one of my fondest memories was getting to meet Linda Sholar!

John, I was pleased to meet you, too!

It's amazing to find out that we both live in the same state! :babyha:

Hidee Y'all,
I plan to respond more fully tomorrow! I still have "car lag" after driving or riding the little over 14 hours home...! However, it was once again a marvelous GOGR! We defintely were at the fun table Saturday night! I'm surprised we were not asked to leave! <smile>!
