Title: Devotional: Week of 9/17/2007
Description: Isaiah 51:16

Chadley - September 17, 2007 10:32 PM (GMT)
Isaiah 51:16- "And I have put my words in thy mouth, and I have covered thee in the shadow of mine hand, that I may plant the heavens, and lay the foundations of the earth, and say unto Zion, Thou art my people."

If you have been serving the Lord for any length of time, then you know that it's not always easy. Things always pop up that are hard to deal with. Sometimes you just don't feel like serving. Sometimes serving takes a lot out of you or takes more than you think you have to give. Sometimes you feel as though you're under attack as you're serving Him. I think that God scatters verses like this one all throughout Scripture because He knows that we often need encouragement.

Look at what this verse tells us. First of all, when it says that God puts His words in our mouths, we see His provision. This is a picture of God providing for us what we need when we need it. Next, when it says that He has covered us with the shadow of His hand, we see His protection. This means that anything that happens to us has to come through Him first, and He only allows things to happen to us that He knows are good for us and that He knows we can handle. Finally, He does all of this so that we can carry out our responsibility of glorifying Him and lifting His name high for the world to see.

Friends, all we need to do is trust God and focus on pleasing Him only. He will take care of the rest. We truly have nothing to worry about. Are you encouraged yet?
