Pictured below is the original Harvesters Quartet. Three members of this quartet left the group within a few months of each other. Buddy Parker and Bill Hefner remained together until the quartet retired as a full time group.

When bass singer Hershell Wooten left the Harvesters, who was his replacement?

I don't know much about the history of the Harvesters - I only know what a bright, happy sound they had from recordings I have heard. I am going to guess Noel Fox.

Fred Rose replaced Hershell. Not many people remember Fred. The first time the Master's sang with the Harvesters, after Hershell left, Bill Hefner said," Fred talks a lot lower than he sings"

That sounds like Bill. Bill recently told me "Fred wanted to sing with us in the worst way . . . and he did just that!"

Personally, I kinda liked Fred's voice.

Anyone know if he joined the Prophets before or after his stint with the Harvesters?

I`m going to guess that Fred Rose sang with the Prophets before he did the Harvesters because Fred replaced Randy Taylor and I saw them in about 1960 or 61 and Fred Rose was singing bass.

then I'm guessing he joined the Prophets after the Harvesters.
