Although I've been out of professional singing for many years, people still remember my great vocal talent.

Now I know how Gayla feels when she is late getting here.

Yes.......Jay Berry, during the time that he was singing with the Prophets and the Rebels, was as good as it gets.......in my opinion.

I still get a blessing every time I listen to my old recordings. Thanks, John. You made my day.....lol.

Where does Jay Berry rank in a list of the great lead singers of all time? Does anyone have a Top 5 or Top 10 list of the best lead singers ever- in order?

adkinsdean - November 8, 2007 08:48 PM (GMT)
There are probably as many different lists as there are fans!!!

My list would start with Jake Hess & Jack Toney & proceed downward from there.

I would agree with Dean on Jake and Jack being the first two then I'd add Ed Enoch.

I'd like to add another to the list. I believe that Buddy Parker of the old Harvesters Quartet was a top-notch lead singer with a well controlled voice with a clear and pleasing sound somewhat like that of Jack Toney. It seems as he was not featured as much as many lead singers, but on a few of the albums on which he was featured, an example of which is "God Is My Shepherd," he was mighty good.
