Mike LoPrinzi is a great gospel musician. In addition to his fine vocal skills, he is also an excellent arranger.

Mike sang with several major groups. Which ones did he NOT sing with?

Statesmen Quartet
Blackwood Brothers
Rangers Trio
Plainsmen
Gospel Harmony Boys
Chuck Wagon Gang

I know Mike sang with a lot of groups, including a local group from Roanoke, when I first saw him.

I will guess that he never sang with the Plainsmen, but it is just a guess. Knowing John, he probably sang with all of the groups mentioned. :whistling:

Joe, he did sing with the Plainsmen for a short time.

I guess the Chuck Wagon Gang and the Rangers Trio.

He DID sing with the Rangers Trio at GOGR..

OK, this was a bit of a trick question . . .

Mike sang with the Clark Thompson Trio. They were essentially the Rangers Trio, but used another name.

Yes, it was The Clark Thompson Trio...that's what age will do to you..
By the way has anyone heard from Clark Thompson ? Last time I heard anything, he was not in good health...

That group from Roanoke was probably the Southern Statesmen - I have a video of them.

I don't imagine Hovie was overly pleased with their choice of name. Never head that group sing but I'd be hestitate to put "Statesmen" in my group's name as it might raise awfully high some folks' expectations of the group's quality.

They were a good regional quartet. Bill Peyton was baritone and manager of the group. I think they disbanded when he died. Lots of personnel changes. Sang mostly old quartet standards when I heard them. I doubt anybody ever mistook them for the "Real McCoy."

You're right on all those counts. I watched their weekly television show a lot, and it seemed like their was always a new member. But, they had a pleasing sound, and were at their best while Mike was with them, in my opinion.
