Amos 3:3- "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?"
This is one of the most-overlooked principles in Scripture, in my opinion. First of all, it is a small verse situated in the middle of one of the Minor Prophets. Secondly, it is a principle that would cause many people to have to make some wholesale lifestyle changes if they were to truly study it and obey it.
Allow me to elaborate, if I may. To think like someone, act like someone, have the same likes and opinions as someone, etc., is said to be "going in the same direction" as that person. That expression is used to indicate likemindedness. We are comfortable with people who are like us. We want to hang around and befriend people of "our type". Our agreement with these people makes relationships easy.
So what does this say about Christians who are walking in the same direction in which the Devil is leading this world? What does this say about those who are comfortable with sin? It says that they and God are not as likeminded as they should be. No matter what they say, their relationship with the Lord is not close. To walk together in agreement with Christ is to forsake sin and worldliness. It is to walk in the direction in which He is leading. It is to think and act the way He would.
Who are you walking together with? Who are you likeminded with? Who are you going in the same direction as? Make sure it's Christ!
