What gospel singer was fondly referred to as 6'4"/94?

Mike Holcomb of the Inspirations.

But I heard Big Jim Hamill introducing the Kingsmen and he said "The Inspirations have got 6'4"/94, but we`ve got 5'8"/208.

James, you got the group correct, but not the singer.

Anyone else?

Was it the bass singer before Holcombe...I think his last name was Shubert....

There may have been some other 6'4"/94's around through the years, but back in 1977 Mike Holcomb was introduced at an Inspirations concert in Newland North Carolina with that as his nickname. I believe I recall him also having been called that by Les Beasley on the Gospel Singing Jubilee TV show. They probably don't call him that any longer. I would guess.

I don`t know if Mike is called 6'4"/94 now either- but I have heard Martin Cook call him that. Today he might be known as 6'4"/204. lol

Martin originally used the name with Marlin Shubert.

I have a live recording of the Harvesters Qt. around 1964, and Bill Hefner referred to Noel Fox as 6'4"/94.
