Title: Urgent Prayer Request
Description: Cancer
quartet-man - December 3, 2007 04:46 PM (GMT)
Some of you know part of this, but I am going to post it here now. I know there are people with strong faith here and I ask that you lift me up in prayer.
I have had severe anemia and my count was down at least to a 7.1 (should be up to 15.) After 5 units of blood and several tests I was diagnosed with cancer. It is about the size of a small lemon and will require surgery to remove. That is scheduled for Dec. 20.
I came back from a meeting with the doc today. He told me basically what I saw on the net, and also told me of another less vital medical problem they discovered. If the cancer has not spread and the surgery goes well, although there will be some effects, he thinks I will live a long time and die of something else like a heart attack at 80 or something. If it has spread, I could only have 3-5 years left.
We are trying to see what staging it is in now. I have more tests on Thursday to help see this, and had blood work today to check the kidneys.
Over the past few years I have added diabetes, sleep apnea, possible heart problems (I could have had a heart attack and part of my heart might be dead) to already problems I had such as high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and other problems.
I know that God is not bound by statistics, reports, etc. and I know He can use this as He sees fit. I personally would love to see it disappear and see the stunned look on doctor's faces when it does and share pictures and all with people telling what He has done. However, I want to be in God's will. I would be lying if I said I am not at least a little upset or that I am 100% positive. I know a lot of prayers have been offered for me and I am thankful. I ask for some from here too.

I have a few updates since this thread was started. I appreciate the prayers. According to the cat scan, the cancer has not spread. It is still possible that it is lower than one cm and could not be seen and we won't know about the lymph nodes until surgery. I still hope and pray that it hasn't spread anywhere else and would love it even more if the tumor itself is gone.
The cat scan does show gallstones, so the doc recommended I have the gall bladder removed as a preventative because the scarring from the surgery I am having could make it much harder a couple of years down the line.
I had a heart cath yesterday and my heart is fine. It was just imaging problems probably due to my huge chest.
I am thankful for the good reports and ask for continued prayers for the upcoming surgery.

Hey all...I finally heard from my buddy Qman and would like to post an update so you can continue to pray.
Qman had surgery on December 20, they removed half of the colon and the gallbladder due to gallstones. He was released on Christmas day in the afternoon.
Returned to ER the next day due to a blood clot in his leg. He was in hospital until the day after New Years when he was transferred to a Transitional Care Facility with rehab. He is due to be released next week, but will have to have surgery to remove the blood clot because blood thinners aren't taking care of it.
Please continue to pray for him and email him with your words of comfort.
Thanks...
