At last, the real and original "Strangemen Quartet" is located and come out of hiding...
Mark Stephens - December 5, 2007 03:13 PM (GMT)
I know your having fun J.D., but if we do this again, I'm starting a trio.
dannygilbert - December 5, 2007 04:30 PM (GMT)
I recognize them. It's Lester Moran (The Old Roadhog) and his Cadillac Cowboys dressed formally.
Kattie E - December 5, 2007 04:49 PM (GMT)

Ben Pegues - December 5, 2007 05:15 PM (GMT)
John, Isn't this David Reece and the Freedom Riders? The two guys in the middle are fuzzy on my computer.
Kattie E - December 5, 2007 05:52 PM (GMT)

You're right, Ben. They were also known as the Gospel Astronuts
They were fuzzy in the original picture also, but I can't believe you wouldn't have recognized one of your ultimate heros, Ben!
According to the caption in the book I used, the two in the middle are Coy Cook and Smitty Gatlin.
JD and David Reece are on the ends.
I've also heard Willie Wynn, Roy McNeal, and Bill Hefner "perform" with this motley crew of entertainers.

"J. D., you actually look better this way! It is a definite improvement!"
Ben Pegues - December 5, 2007 07:06 PM (GMT)
John, I should have known that was Coy. JD and Reece only used the best talent in gospel music for this act!
JohnCBoy - December 5, 2007 07:18 PM (GMT)
I think I need a Rolaid. :whew:
James Moore - December 5, 2007 10:46 PM (GMT)
HOLD ON JUST A MINUTE BOYS! Did ya all know we`re gonna have the patter of little feet around the house?......MY MOTHER-IN-LAW IS COMING TO VISIT, AND SHE`S A MIDGIT.
James Moore - December 6, 2007 02:09 AM (GMT)
Say, we sound better than the Klaudt Indian Family-not bad if I do say so.

Oh, but I love "Roadhog Moran and his Caddilac Cowboys"! We have a CD of that incredible record, and it is priceless! Thank you for reminding me about them, Danny! They always make me smile!

The Statlers had 2 LP's with Roadhog... He was only part of the LP(Then and Now)..they did the Saturday morning radio program on that one...then the 2nd LP (Live at The Johnny Mack Brown High School) was all Roadhog..both are classics IMO...
Mark Stephens - December 6, 2007 09:20 PM (GMT)
2nd from right sure looks like Roy McNeal to me.

Me too, Mark. I wish the picture was a little clearer. The caption says Smitty, but it does look like Roy.
