John is on Granddaddy leave, so I will attempt a question today...

What singer sang with the Stamps Trio and later with Jake Hess & The Imperials?

What group did he sing with before the Stamps Trio?

I'll guess Jim Murray...........the group? I don't know.

dannygilbert - December 17, 2007 06:11 PM (GMT)
Yes, it was Jim Murray...he left the Orrell Quartet for the Imperials.

Ben Pegues - December 17, 2007 07:36 PM (GMT)
I believe Jim was with the Inspirationals before the Stamps Trio.

Kattie E - December 17, 2007 07:49 PM (GMT)
VirginiaJoe and Danny, you are both correct.

Ben, I am not sure about your answer, it is not in my information. Perhaps, the Professor can help out here.

dannygilbert - December 17, 2007 09:30 PM (GMT)
Doh! My answer was all wardsback.

Jim Murray left the Orrell Quartet for The Stamps Trio, according to John Scheideman.

Jim Murray was with the Ambassador's Trio prior to the Orrell Qt. The group consisted of Jim, Larry Orrell, & Johnnie Marine. They later added Buddy Liles to sing bass and changed the named to the Orrell Qt.

OK, I'm back for a little while. Thanks, Kattie for helping out!

First, thank you all for your answers while I was away and thank you Kattie for keeping RGMH going!

Second, I think most all of the answers are correct. I'm not sure about when Jim left the Inspirationals. Ben would know better than me. He helped me write that article about the Stamps Trio that Danny linked to. Here's another link to that story: Stamps Trio

Thanks for using that article as your reference, Danny! ;)

I guess it would be a better practice overall if I read a little before posting. :smacking:

NOW I see that Crenshaw, not Scheideman, wrote that article.

Thanks, John. (Crenshaw, that is. :D )

Just glad to have you on board, Danny!
