Title: New Year's Eve Gospel Music Spectacular

Kattie E - December 20, 2007 12:50 AM (GMT)
An evening of Gospel stars will help ring in the New Year at the Walker County Civic Center, 10052 Hwy 27, in Rock Spring, Ga. Journey On Ministries presents Monday, Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. and evening featuring Kirk Talley, Testimony Quartet, Ken Hicks from US 101, Tennessee Harmony and a special appearance by Randall Franks “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.”
Tim Owens, tenor singer for Testimony Quartet, is coordinating the evening’s event that he said he hopes will be not only a blessing but also a joyous faith-filled alternative for New Year’s Eve.
“We are bringing together some very talented people,” he said. “I know it will be a night to remember as we ring in the New Year praising the Lord in song.”
Testimony Quartet is led by US 101 radio personality Ken Hicks, who has been spinning soul-touching tunes on the “Gospel Road” Sundays from 6-9:30 a.m. since 1984.
He said he always looks forward to this year-end event.
“It’s our 18th year of welcoming people from across the Tennessee Valley,” he said. “ When we started it was the first concert event in the area although some area churches hosted special services. The people really seem to enjoy these and they have become very successful."
Other members of Testimony are baritone Howard Stewart, and lead singer Heath Allen.
Talley has made his mark as an artist and songwriter yielding him a long list of awards such as 'Favorite Male Vocalist', 'Favorite Songwriter', and Favorite Song of the Year'
His songs include "Step Into the Water,” Dove award winner "He Is Here,” “I Speak to You," "Joy on the Other Side of Jordan" among others.
Tennessee Harmony of Cleveland, Tenn. including Tom Castello, Rocky Chavis, Blair Cantrell, and John Nix will also share the stage.
“Tennessee Harmony is really dedicated in its ministry and we all have fun when we are around them,” Hicks said.
Also making a special appearance will be Randall Franks “Officer Randy Goode” from TV’s “In the Heat of the Night.”
The award-winning fiddler’s best selling release, "Handshakes and Smiles" was a top twenty Christian music seller. In addition to his solo career, Franks is a former member of Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Boys, Jim and Jesse's Virginia Boys and has performed with Jeff and Sheri Easter, The Lewis Family, the Marksmen Quartet among others.
