Ecclesiastes 9:10- "Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might; for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest."
I think tht this is a most appropriate Scripture for the beginning of a new year. It is one that exhorts us to always, in everything, give 100% and do our very best. Anything less does not bring honor and glory to our Lord.
Why is doing our best so important? Simply put- not doing so is a waste of time. How many times have we half-done things only to regret it later and wish that we could go back and re-do them? However, wasted time can never be gotten back. And, as this verse clearly reminds us, we only have a limited amount of time to work with in our lives. God is pleased when we make the most of our time for Him.
A new year is, in a sense, a fresh start. Let's make a fresh commitment this year to do our best for the Lord. May 2008 be a year in which the Lord will be pleased with our efforts.
Great thoughts Pastor and a great reminder. :D
thanks Pastor Chad for reminding us of New Commitments. I prefer to make a New Years Commitment to My Lord instead of NEw Years Resolutions. Thanks for
reminding me of my COMMITMENT to MY LORD
