Title: American Idol 2008

Donna - January 15, 2008 06:20 PM (GMT)
Get your  ready. American Idol starts tonight. You might need ear plugs for a few weeks!

Donna - January 20, 2008 02:13 AM (GMT)
Why is it that the one girl who was rude and mouthy after being turned down is getting so much air time?

Donna - January 30, 2008 01:36 AM (GMT)
I saw Denise's cousin on AI tonight...and she made it to Hollywood!!

WOO HOO :good job:

WOO HOO :good job:

Which one was Denise's cousin?

Elizabeth.....the one who goofed at the end and said she was America's Next Top Model....LOL

pattipagewhite - February 13, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
There were three guys that really stood out to me...one was the 17 year old that had such a big happy smile and the beautifully mature voice, David Archuleta, he was so sweet. The others were the young blonde guy that played keyboard....the one who cried at the end because he was so stressed and tired..Josiah Leming, and the tall guy...Michael Johns, Simon called him a white "soul singer"...he has an awesome voice. I also like the black girl who almost lost her voice, Syesha Mercado. I hope they all make into the final 24.

Donna - February 20, 2008 03:09 AM (GMT)
From the guys show....

Who are your two to go home?

Who are your top six?

Donna - February 20, 2008 03:11 AM (GMT)
I think Luke Menard and Garrett Haley are going home.

My top six are

Robbie Carrico
David Archuleta
Michael Johns
Jason Castro
David Cook
David Hernandez

ThunderingHerd - February 20, 2008 03:13 AM (GMT)
I do not know the names of the individuals yet but the guy who sang "Jailhouse Rock" and the one who looked like Leif Garret need to go home this week. I did not care for eitiher of them.

I also did not like the guitar guy as much as they did. I like David Cook the best and the Achuletta kid.

VirginiaJoe - February 20, 2008 03:31 AM (GMT)
That was Danny Noriega that sang Jailhouse Rock, I believe.

I have the same six that Donna picked. I really liked the Archuleta kid.

I think Luke Menard and Colton Berry will go home.

pattipagewhite - February 20, 2008 04:05 AM (GMT)
I still like Michael Johns....and the Archuleta boy...I kinda liked David Hernandez too, it was the first time I had really noticed him. I didn't care for the Jailhouse Rock number either....oh well....anything can happen.

VirginiaJoe - February 20, 2008 04:43 AM (GMT)
I agree. Michael Johns is really good.

quartetlover - February 20, 2008 06:12 PM (GMT)
American Idol contestants

Poor Chikezie...... I really wanted to like him. He is so sweet..... but he didn't do well at all. I didn't care for Luke Menard either. Those are my two choices to go home this week.

I loved David Archuleta..... he is so humble, AND he has a great voice.
Jason Castro and Michael Johns are my other favorites....... and I hate to admit it here, but I may as well stand up and be counted..... I also like Danny Noriega. I LOVED his audition.... when he sang "Proud Mary"... and I guess that's what's in my mind. I really WANT to like him, so I do. I didn't think he sounded bad.... he got off beat there once, and he was a bit perturbed that he didn't get great reviews from the judges, so that puts him down just a little in my book. Others didn't get great reviews, and they were way more mature about it. I just hope that he doesn't go yet..... I'd like to see him get another chance. I think that he really has a great voice.

I felt sorry for the guy who sang "Moon River".... Jason Yeager. I thought he did really well, but then again, I love that song, so maybe I was just happy to hear it.

I didn't care for Robbie Carrico...... didn't quite get what the judges saw there.

Donna - February 21, 2008 04:06 AM (GMT)
I sure felt sorry for the girls with all the flu going around.

I missed 2-3 of the girls when my daughter called and had to go on the advice of my husband

Top 6 are.....

Syesha
Ramiele
Carly
Kristy
Joanne
Asia

My two going home might be...Amy and Brooke

pattipagewhite - February 21, 2008 02:15 PM (GMT)
I missed the show....I should have taped it, but I taped WifeSwap....it's been hilarious lately.....

quartetlover - February 21, 2008 10:57 PM (GMT)
I'm posting from home, and for some reason
I can't scroll left to right.... so my post is
gonna look kinda funny.

I thought the girls were pretty bad last night.
At least for the most part.

I liked Amanda, Ramiele, and Syesha.
I do not for the life of me get what all the
hype is about Carly. I did not like her at all.

It wouldn't hurt my feelings if any of them
went home..... well, except for Amanda, Ramiele, and Syesha.

ThunderingHerd - February 22, 2008 02:38 AM (GMT)
you don't like Carly? Oh I do. I think she has a great voice. I was VERY surprised to see Amanda nealry out this evening. I like her. She reminds me of Gina Glockson from last season the way she rocks out.

I was surprised to see Colton go home. I did not think he was all that bad. The Leif Garrett look alike was not real good and I was torn between Chickezie and the Sanjaya look alike this evening. Maybe next week they will both go home.

pattipagewhite - February 22, 2008 04:06 AM (GMT)
Wasn't Chikezie the one who made the remark about "one black, one gray and one white"....concerning the judges....I figured he'd go because of that.

Actually, I believe that Chikezie was talking about Simon's shirts. Simon made fun of his orange suit, so Chikezie made fun of Simon..... saying that he only wears either black, gray, or white shirts.

I'd like to see Simon in orange.... or pink..... or anything colorful. :rainbow:

The one I am talking aobut that looks like Sanjaya is that Noriega kid. He does not really look like him but he reminds me of him. I bet he will outstay his talent level like sanjaya did.

Well.....that's a bit better, but I still think he was a bit sarcastic....I thought he was talking about the color of the judges.....

Whaaat?? Steve, you're breaking my heart. Sanjaya compared to Danny? Danny didn't make the best song choice last week, but I'm expecting great things from him. He had a really good audition. Did anyone see it? Here it is....... come on everybody... come and love Danny Noriega with me....... :D

Danny Noriega - Proud Mary

VirginiaJoe - February 25, 2008 06:10 PM (GMT)
I like Danny. He isn't my favorite, but I am anxious to see what he does this week. I especially like that he has been singing songs that I like, but that will probably change this week. What are they using for a song base this week?

QUOTE (VirginiaJoe @ Feb 25 2008, 01:10 PM)
What are they using for a song base this week?

I saw somewhere where they think this week is 70's week. If that's true..... :woohoo:!! The 70's rock! In my little corner of the world, I listen to 70's music quite often. My drawer at work is filled with 70's CDs.

pattipagewhite - February 27, 2008 02:37 AM (GMT)
I'm not a big fan of 70's music(sorry, Shari), but may faves tonight were David Archuleta and David Hernandez with Michael Johns in third....I really don't care for anything of John Lennon's (although I'm a product of the 60's and I loved the Beatles), but David Archeleta did a beautiful job of "Imagine"....I think he stands a really good chance of winning this year....the crowd loves him.

VirginiaJoe - February 27, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
I missed a lot of the music in the 70's......we were so busy raising three kids-the youngest will be 40 in six days. :)... so I don't recognize a lot of the songs they are singing. I have no idea who will go home, but I will bet David Archuleta won't be one of them. What a great young man! I hope he can maintain that humbleness. He is my favorite.

ThunderingHerd - February 27, 2008 03:26 AM (GMT)
I agree with Miss Pattie on a few points here. I think David Archuletta was fantastic and I am picking him as the early favorite to win the whole thing. I think the kid has got something special. You just look at him and his smile and you can't help but like him. I thought David Hernandez was also a very good performance. However, I did not like Michale Johns at all. if I was picking someone to go home I would pick Johns and guy with the dreadlocks. Just my two cents worth.

On a side not...I do not care for when contestants are almost confontational with Simon. I think that might have bickfired for David Cook tonight. I think that they should take the high road and take what critcal comments that are made as constructive and not mouth back to the judges. It just makes them look bad to the american voters. Until tonight David Cook was one of my favorites...but his smart mouth sort of made me rethink that a bit.

Steve

Go Herd!

I'm not a big fan of 70's music(sorry, Shari)

That's ok, Patti..... I think we all love the songs of the time we were growing up. I think I had my hopes up too high, because I wasn't overly impressed with the singing last night. David Archuleta was awesome! I wasn't excited about him singing "Imagine".... I just don't like that song because I can't possibly imagine that there's no Heaven..... but at least he was smart enough to not sing the first verse! Woo hoo!! He rocked out loud!

I still don't like Robbie Carrico...... David Cook is the real rocker this season, but I agree with Steve about his attitude. He mouthed off to Simon, and I was SO happy to see Simon put him in his place. It looked like David may have regretted opening his mouth. Woo hoo...... go Simon! :highfive:

I still like Danny (he's so funny & cute).... Chikezie was better this week.... and David Hernandez was good too. I felt really sorry for Jason Yeager...... he looked like he was about to cry. No one else really stood out. I hope the girls do better tonight.

pattipagewhite - February 27, 2008 08:56 PM (GMT)
I agree with Steve....the ones that are confrontational with the judges will not last...I personally think that's why Simon is so harsh at times. I think he's testing them. If you listened to what he said to David Hernandez....he said something like..."that's what I like about you, you take criticism as a challenge and use it constructively, not getting mad." My husband wants to sock him in the mouth, and I did too a few years ago, but I think he's just be honest. Randy gets pretty critical at times, but it doesn't seem to upset people the way Simon does....lol

I think the Cook boy really messed up last night with his attitude, and Chekezie sort of did too, although he was much better last night.

I didn't like Michael John's choice of songs, I thought it didn't show off his ability at all, but I still like his voice. I most assuredly didn't like the kid with the dread locks, I don't think he'll last very long.

ThunderingHerd - February 29, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
Well, we have seen who went home tonight and I have to admit that I am saddened to se Alaina go. I liked her. I felt sorry for her when they told her and I think the other girl fully expected and was prepared to go home herself.

As far as the guys.....I was not really surpised at who went home. Pretty much who I expected. The only ohter thing that surprised me this week was that Amanda stayed in. I thought she might be headed home too.

Steve

Go Herd!

pattipagewhite - March 4, 2008 01:20 PM (GMT)
This story has surfaced about David Hernandez....I must admit I'm saddened by it...in my opinion, this is much worse than racy photos on the internet.....

David Hernandez story

quartetlover - March 4, 2008 06:05 PM (GMT)
I don't like him. And I didn't much care for him before I found out he was a stripper. He's a good singer...... but I look for much more that just someone who can sing. David is WAY too over-confident..... and IMO, he has no reason to be. He's not THAT great. Last week after the boys sang, he was doing his little prance around the stage in front of everyone, and the only thing that came to my mind was "ew!". Now that I know he was a stripper..... I can see that his "prance" was one of those stripper dances that doesn't take much talent. A dancer, he is not. <looking for the smilie that pukes all over everything>

pattipagewhite - March 12, 2008 02:19 AM (GMT)
Wow! Chekezie rocked the stage tonight...he was awesome. I never expected him to be that good. I loved the arrangement...and so did the judges. Simon was full of praise tonight for the good ones...but honestly, there were some pretty boring performances...second best IMO was Carly....Brooke White did beautifully also.

ThunderingHerd - March 12, 2008 02:36 AM (GMT)
Well, this is the second time I typed this so I hope it goes this time. I agree with Pattie that the second best performance tonight belonged to Carly. However, to me the one who rocked the house was David Cook. Eleanor Rigby is one of my favorite songs and he tore it up. I loved it! David Archuletta messed up big time but I think he has a big enough fan base to keep him safe another week at least. I hope so. Brooke white did very good also. I liked Kristi Lee's verion of 8 days a week. Maybe I am in the in the minority there ...she looks like Faith Hill to me so that helps her cause ha ha. I think that the ones who need to worry about going home are Sayesha and Ramiele. They were the weekest links. I have give up on Amanda going home for a few weeks because of the vote for the worst site. it will take a few weeks for her to not have them save her.

pattipagewhite - March 12, 2008 12:47 PM (GMT)
I have to admit, Steve, that you're right about David Cook....it was a good performance. I just don't care for him for some reason, I can't really say why, he's just not one of my faves....I think probably Ramiele or Sayesha will probably be going home, but then....look how long what's his name stayed last year....lol

ThunderingHerd - March 13, 2008 02:14 AM (GMT)
I was a little bit surprised that Hernandez was sent home. I was just glad that Katie Lee did not go. I don't think the news of David's naked lap dances helped his chances on idol a lot.

pattipagewhite - March 13, 2008 03:38 AM (GMT)
I was a bit surprised also Steve, but I was glad...lol

quartetlover - March 13, 2008 04:46 PM (GMT)
I was glad to see him go too. I think he was a bit surprised..... rather arrogant, and not expecting it at all.

I had to tape it Tuesday night, and just got to watch it last night. Carly was definitely my favorite of the night...... and she's not one that I really cared for early on in the competition.

pattipagewhite - March 13, 2008 05:05 PM (GMT)
You're right Shari....he was obviously surprised, he never expected to be the one leaving.....
