Kattie E - January 23, 2008 02:43 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't you find it rather difficult to smile to if you were in this get up?
Kattie E - January 23, 2008 02:46 PM (GMT)
I'll wear the white shirt...
I'll wear the little tie...
I'll even wear this confounded jacket with the confounded fringe...but I'll be hanged if I'm riding a horse to our next gig! :horseride:
RichL - January 23, 2008 02:51 PM (GMT)
This was our second choice of suits for the Lonely Street album
Mark Stephens - January 23, 2008 03:02 PM (GMT)
We're Riding the Range for Jesus.
We're going North to Alaska.
This was Johnny Horton's idea.
Easmon had sense enough to quit over this and I don't blame him.
Do ya'll think we should have listened to J.D. and Hovie on this one?
Now I know why Eddie became a promoter
AND ......
Laugh all you want, at least we can sing Streets of Gold!!
_______________
By the way, that's a picture of one of the top 5 quartets EVER. If you have never heard them, you're missing half the measuring stick. :horseride:

Jack......Do you think Rusty would have worn
this silly garb?,Easmon would have known better too.

You know you shouldn't talk while posing for a photo, so you have to be discreet and do it with clinched teeth while maintaining a smile.
Jay: "I forgot my cowboy hat."
Jack: "Me too. Do you reckon we ought to stop and go get them out of the bus?"
Thurmond: "We all forgot them, but it ain't that bad without them. We have looked worse. Remember the sofa suits?"
Jay: "Next time let's wear some nice, classy sweaters"
pattipagewhite - January 23, 2008 04:06 PM (GMT)
"We're just waiting for Howdy Doody to show up".....
JohnCBoy - January 23, 2008 05:38 PM (GMT)
What were they thinking??
quartetlover - January 23, 2008 05:52 PM (GMT)
Dude in the top left is thinking....... "I'm too sexy for this photo shoot".
Mark Stephens - January 23, 2008 06:23 PM (GMT)
Just a side note.
I don't know when this pic was taken but will guess it was around the time of the Wonderful Time Up There Album, which has among other things, some great Piano work by Eddie.
Its one of my favorites.
What makes it even more amazing is I think it was recorded in a homemade recording studio in New Orleans on the spur of the moment and without much if any rehearsal.
It would be hard to get something that sounds that good out like that today.

I think this picture clearly demonstrates that the answer to that question is YES.

okay , somebody tell Ralph Emery we're ready to go on.
RichL - January 24, 2008 04:21 AM (GMT)
Lets face it these guys sang much better than they dressed, come to think of it that could be said of some of today's groups too. NO CLICKING, I MAY GET IT NOW
KLB - January 24, 2008 05:06 AM (GMT)
Those jackets they wore on "Lonely Street" were what I was referring to as "sofa suits," but I believe those in RichL's link qualify too. They must have had a connection to get some deals on upholstery fabric. Didn't a famous singer own a furniture store? Maybe he had a fire sale.
pattipagewhite - January 24, 2008 01:09 PM (GMT)
Are you sure they weren't making a guest appearance on the Roy Rogers Show or something....and I still think they look like the outfit worn by the guy on Howdy Doody....Buffalo Bob....
