Title: Memphis/ Mid South Tornados
OneLowVol - February 6, 2008 02:42 PM (GMT)
Hello everyone, the sun has risen on our area this morning, giving us a real picture as to the extent of damage last nights storm brought us. There is extensive damage here in the city, and in the surrounding areas as well. So far there have been 31 fatalaties confirmed, and that number is expected to rise. Please be in prayer for these families that they might turn to God in this time of their lives, and for the recovery/ cleanup efforts that I expect to be involved in today.
I and my family have made it through alright, I didnt get a good look at my house before I left for work today because it was just too dark. We didnt have any leaks, so I assume that if there was any damage, it was minimal.
Anyway, I thank you all for your prayers, and I will try to keep you updated as my activity today allows.
In Him,
Jim Ashcraft

All clear on this end as well. Good to hear you did OK Jim, thought about you as I saw the MFD on the news. Was it your station at the airport that took the hit?
OneLowVol - February 7, 2008 04:48 PM (GMT)
No, thankfully. It was the Rural Metro guys over at FedEx. It took the roof off of their station. They are temporarily riding out of the new ARFF station off Swinnea Rd.

Well, thanks to all of you who have been praying for our little corner of the world. As you all may know, the storm took a total of 54 lives. The area is in recovery/cleanup mode now, and is picking up and moving on. Union University in Jackson had all but one building on campus all but destroyed. The National Weather Service has confirmed that the tornado that hit at Union was an F4. God's hand was certainly on those kids as not one life was lost there. Thats amazing knowing that there were approx. 1100 kids on campus at the time. If I could ask all of you to do something for me, go to you tube and type in "Union University Tribute" and watch that video. It is set to the song "Praise You in This Storm". It is a moving video, and let me tell you the pictures do not do the scene there justice. Thanks again to all of you, you are all the best, and you hold a special place in my heart.
Jim
