Description: Don't forget the lyrics

I love Wayne Brady's new TV show with that name. I think I would have won $300,000 last night. :D

That being said, let's play the gospel music version. I'll "sing" a couple of lines and you fill in the missing words.

This could either be fun or an exercise in futility! LOL!

Here goes:

When my feet get cold, eyes shut
Body been chilled by the hand of death
Tongue glued to the roof of my mouth
Hand's laid folded across my breast
____ ____ __ ______ _____ __ ___ _ ____.

GET AWAY JORDAN:

"You don't have to worry about the I felt"

Dorothy Love-Coats

John, how about splitting the winnings with me?

stevenson - February 8, 2008 02:03 PM (GMT)
I think it's more like......

I won't have to worry 'bout the way I fare

Where's Kattie when you need her?

Ya'll might need a lifeline.

Don't have to worry about the way I think

I am assuming that we are going by Hovie's version and the nearest I could tell this is what he says. Pam Tillis with the Fairfield four sounds like she uses some different words.

Don't have to worry about the way I fare,
cause the mighty done told me, he'd be right there.
Lift me up on his wings of love,
Carry my soul to the heavens above.?

I don`t have to worry 'bout the way or fare

I checked mine with the SSQ website and it's exactly the same lyrics they have listed. So I don't know what other lyrics you want?????

This is the way I understand Hovie:

When my feet get cold, eyes are shutted,
body been chilled by the hand of death,
tongue been glued to the roof-ah mu-mouth,
hand laid folded across the breast,
won't have to worry 'bout the way I'll fare,
God A-mighty done told me He'd be right there,
Lift me up on His wings of love,
Carry my soul to the Heavens up abpve.
Get away Jordan, deep and wide,
Cause I promised Mama I'll meet c'ha on the other side.

I think Danny is as close to correct as we're gonna get.

stevenson, you were almost right, too. You got a "won't" for a "don't". I wouldn't be that picky, but Wayne Brady is looking over my shoulder.

I've spent all morning trying to figure it out from McCray's version. :whistling:

No, the waters are "CHILLY", not "MUDDY".

HOW MANY OF YOU HAVE HEARD PAM TILLIS DO THIS SONG WITH THE FAIRFIELD FOUR. I GOT THE CD BY MISTAKE AND I WOULD HAVE NEVER GUESSED THAT WAS HER SINGING BUT SOMEONE ON ANOTHER BOARD CLUED ME IN. SHE SOUNDS LIKE A BLUES SINGER ON IT INSTEAD OF A HILLBILLY.

I love the Dove Bros. but I'm afraid McCray and the boys have been guilty of "mangling" lyrics in the past. On Jake's verse, Eric sings "I heard a voice and I saw the one." Jake sang"I heard a voice but I saw no one."

I love them too and have heard them sing this in person several times, and its great the way they do it. But I have yet to be able to follow the lyrics when they do it!!
