Title: Sunday morning trivia
Description: Famous quartet, famous writer

Pictured below is an album of Mosie Lister songs. It was released in 1978 on the Tempo label. The title is "Take Me to the Fountain".

The ten songs on this collection were written by Mosie Lister and performed by a quartet. The only way you would know who the singers is to read the fine print on the back of the LP cover. In other words, I didn't photoshop out their name! ;) Of course, when you hear them sing, their harmonies are unmistakable.

The quartet on this LP has been singing for many years. In fact, they are still active today.

Who is the quartet featured on this album of Mosie Lister songs?

One would think that one could put this into Photoshop and blow it up to read it, but, if that small print were sounds, a dog couldn't hear it. :babyha:

Boy, you sure can't find out anything about this recording on any of the "look up " sites..However, if you're talking "harmonies" and still active today, I just might know who it "could" be. I will however wait a while to see if anyone else comes up with the answer.

I thought you might know this answer, longtimer!

;)

Just thought I'd add to the "pot"....

The only groups that I remember being on that label were The Couriers and the Tribunes. Don't think either one of those are singing today though.

A guess: Gospel Harmony Boys

JohnCBoy - February 10, 2008 10:26 PM (GMT)
Interesting thoughts, but none are correct.

Norm - February 10, 2008 10:35 PM (GMT)
Since they backed up everyone else, how about the Jordanaires?

JohnCBoy - February 10, 2008 10:43 PM (GMT)
Another good guess, Norm, but not correct.

Well, I gave up guessing and went to the net. All I found out was that the Van Hook Voices (who?) put out an album called "Sing the Songs of Mosie Lister" on the Tempo label in 1975.

That doesn't the answer the question but after doing the research I felt I should share the results.

Norm, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't have a clue that this LP even existed until a couple of weeks ago . . . and I certainly didn't know that one of my favorite quartets was singing on the project.

I found this copy on Ebay last week, and it's a treasure. Never been opened or played.

My guess would have been the Couriers, but since someone already guessed that, I have no clue. I'll have to make some calls and check some sources. Someone has to know!

The CW Gang?

James Moore - February 11, 2008 02:32 AM (GMT)
Is it the Telestials?

adkinsdean - February 11, 2008 02:52 AM (GMT)
Looks like you've stumped everyone --- we may have to travel on to another topic!

Dean

RichL - February 11, 2008 03:24 AM (GMT)
Are you playing with us Dean and telling us that it's the Travlers QT.???????

JohnCBoy - February 11, 2008 06:31 AM (GMT)
Dean's correct. It is the Trav'lers Quartet.

If you'll read some of my clues, you'll see that it's a quartet that's been singing for many years, a quartet that is still singing today, a quartet noted for smooth harmony, and one of my favorite quartets.

I just can't believe I didn't know this LP existed until a few weeks ago.
