JD Sumner and the Stamps Quartet had two female vocalists that were members of the group.
Who were they?

I believe one was Jennifer O'Brien.

Sandra Steele and Jennifer O'Brien.

Sandra Steele and Jennifer O'Brien are correct.

These were not good Stamps groups. Where's McNeal when you need him!

I never heard this group. What was the point? They had a tenor??
Just one of J. D.'s "creative" ideas??

My thoughts when I saw this question was not who but why did a man who was a traditional male quartet man have a woman in his group. I'm sure J.D. could have given us a straight answer as he must have had the original straight talk express bus.
I don't know if I ever heard the group with the females. I think that a couple of albums that I have had had them pictured but I don't think they were singing on the record.

Sandra Steele was the first female to join the Stamps. This was during the days when they were doing a lot of "Elvis Memories" programs, and she was an added voice.
In that picture, they have two bass singers (JD and Larry Strickland), a tenor (Buck Buckles), a lead (Ed Enoch), and Sandra. I don't know if Richard Lee or Ed Hill were around at that time and just missed the photo op.
The final Stamps LP before they disbanded had JD, Ed, Dave Ponder, and Jennifer O'Brien.

J.D. mentioned at least one of them in his book and said something to the effect (if I recall) that he wouldn't do it again. I don't know why he did it, though. He never said why. I also think that Jennifer O' Brien married Ed Enoch because I have seen her credited as Jennifer O'Brien Enoch. I figure it is too coincidental for there to be another Jennifer O'Brien marry another Enoch or even one of the two.
David Ponder was baritone of course, but I don't know if there were any between him and Ed Hill. I also wonder why Ed Hill left the Stamps and joined the Singing Americans and if there were anything in between that too. Does anyone here know any of this for sure? I certainly think these combinations were the worst versions of the Stamps that I ever heard. At least when Morales had his sister join the Imperials they still had a good sound. She was one of the few women I have heard that sounded good in a male quartet scenario.

Jennifer and Ed did later marry.
Richard Lee (Steve's brother) sang baritone between Ed Hill and Dave Ponder.
I'll leave the other questions up to the rest of you to consider.

Richard was on the QCA 396 release "Keep Me".
Sorry, I don't have a scan of the cover on my computer.
