Nashville, TN - Popular singer/songwriter and author, Janet Paschal recently was honored by the Gospel Music Association with the Dove Award nomination for Southern Gospel Album of the Year. Paschal’s Sounds Like Sunday recording, was among the Top Five when the nominees were announced recently in Nashville, TN. The Dove Awards are presented annually with more than three dozen awards presented in 41 categories, encompassing a variety of Gospel Music genres. The 39th Annual Dove Awards will be presented in Nashville at the famed Grand Ole Opry House on April 23.
On the heels of learning of the Dove Award nomination, Paschal enjoyed a huge jump in the Christian/Southern Gospel Soundscan Chart for the week ending February 24, 2008. After 35 weeks on the Soundscan Chart, Sounds Like Sunday soared from #92 to #22. Nielsen SoundScan is an information system that tracks sales of music and music video products throughout the United States and Canada. Sales data from point-of-sale cash registers is collected weekly from over 14,000 retail, mass merchant and non-traditional (on-line stores, venues, etc.) outlets. Weekly data is compiled and made available every Wednesday. Nielsen SoundScan is the sales source for the Billboard music charts.
Paschal’s Sounds Like Sunday recording, which is available on the Vine Records label and distributed by Crossroads Music, features the Top 80 hit “Mysterious Way,” as well as the brand new release, “When God Dips His Love,” which has just been shipped to radio stations nationwide.
With nearly a dozen recordings to her credit, Paschal’s passion and vulnerability is most evident in her inspiring music, especially her latest release, Sounds Like Sunday, a collection of her favorite hymns. Her recordings have been recognized with two Grammy Award nominations and numerous Dove Award nominations. In addition, combined sales figures exceeding a half million have afforded her the honor of twice being named among the Top Ten Favorite Female Vocalists in Charisma Magazine’s Annual Music Poll.
Paschal heads to Europe this week, where she’ll spend 12 days, performing in five different countries, including Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Norway and the Netherlands with fellow recording artists, The Gaither Vocal Band, Ernie Haase & Signature Sound, Gordon Mote and Jeff & Sheri Easter.
