John 12:24- "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit."
One of my favorite movies of all time is Cool Runnings. At one point in the movie, one character asks another, "Sanka, ya dead, mon?" The other character answers, "Ya, mon!" (In the context of the movie, this is a hilarious scene.) However, spiritually speaking, this is something that Christians should ask themselves seriously every day.
Take a close look at the picture painted in this verse. When a seed is planted, it has to die as a seed so that it can sprout and produce fruit. Otherwise, it just lays there alone as a seed. The same is true for us as Christians. Unless we die to self, we will never bear the spiritual fruit in our lives that the Lord wants us to bear. It's not all about us- it's all about Him!
So how about it? "Ya dead, mon?"
Pastor, you do a great job of expressing a point in just a few minutes that it takes others 45 mins. to accomplish. I appreciate that.
thanks for the reminder Pastor Chad. Thanks for always heading us in the right direction.
