Title: Saturday morning trivia
Description: I'd like to see him in the HOF
JohnCBoy - April 5, 2008 01:41 PM (GMT)
Harold Lane spent many years as a member of the Gospel Harmony Boys Quartet.
Many of us know that he left the Gospel Harmony Boys to join the Singing Speer Family in the mid 1960s.
However, in the mid 1950s, he also left the Gospel Harmony Boys for a short time to join another great quartet.
What was the name of this quartet?

Popsy and James are correct.
Now, can you identify the men in this version of the Homeland Harmony Quartet?

Maybe I`m a little older popsy. Lets see isn`t that L-R
James McCoy, Harold Lane, Conner Hall, Aceyl Soward, and Dickie Matthews or Wayne Groce.

James, your first four are correct. The pianist is a bit more difficult.
Any other attempts?

John you are so right. There is no greater travesty in Gospel Music than "H" not being in the HOF.
Harold is not well. I hope the powers that be grant him this well deserved honor before he "graduates" He did so much behind the scenes that folks are not aware of. Many of the early Statesmen arrangements were his.
BTW: I'll bet that Homeland Harmony Qt. with "H", Connor Hall and A. D. Soward was one "stompin'" good quartet.

All I can do is to encourage folks to join the SGMA and nominate Harold for this honor. I know I'm an SGMA member, and I have nominated him for inclusion for the past two years.

I thought that was Wayne Groce ont he far right.

Wayne Groce was a lead singer. Harold Lane is the lead singer in this version of the quartet.
Randy Jones is on the right. He was the pianist.
