What member of the SGMA Hall of Fame is in this old photograph?

What is the name of the quartet pictured here?

:o Wow, I'm actually stumped!

James Moore - April 7, 2008 02:29 PM (GMT)
The one in the upper right looks like Earl Terry, but I don`t know is Terry is a HOF member or not.

Mark Stephens - April 7, 2008 04:35 PM (GMT)
The one in the upper right and the one in the lower left look familiar but I cannot place either of them.

P.S.

We send you guys one of our best from Missouri and now we are all in mourning. :smacking:

Mark, I think I read the right meaning to what you said. If you sent us his brother, too, it just might have made the difference.

Upper left looks sort like Erman Slater.

Dean

Norm - April 7, 2008 08:10 PM (GMT)
If it is Ermon Slater as Dean suggests, then the group might be the Radioaires, Sand Mountain Quartet, Lone Star Quartet or Dixie Four.

Those are names of some of the groups Ermon belonged to according to John C.

My guess is the man bottom right is Fred C. Maples

JohnCBoy - April 7, 2008 09:33 PM (GMT)
Wow. Guess this is a stumper.

James, you're as close as any. Earl Terry is in the picture, but he's not in the SGMA HOF.

The gentleman in the HOF is more noted for his songwriting ablitily than his singing, although he had a lovely tenor voice.

. . . and yes, I wore all black yesterday.

lindasholar - April 7, 2008 10:56 PM (GMT)
Is it Robert S. Arnold? The man on the lower left?

RichL - April 7, 2008 10:56 PM (GMT)
One more guess, Albert E. Brumley

Linda, you're correct. Mr. Arnold is probably best known for writing the song "No Tears in Heaven" (unlike the tears I was shedding Saturday night!).

Poplar Bluff is shut down and flying the flag at half mast.

Which one is Earl Terry?

Which one is Earl Terry?

Forgive me! I goofed!

Earl Terry is not in the picture. Sometimes I let a post get me sidetracked, and that's what happened here.

Doug Prater is in the upper right corner.

Both Doug and Earl were members of the LeFevres at one time and I got them confused.

Mr. Arnold is lower left corner.

I have no clue about the other men in the picture.

Mark Stephens - April 8, 2008 01:47 PM (GMT)
Your just all discombobulated ain't ya?

What's the name of the quartet? I see the guitar, is that a clue?

JohnCBoy - April 9, 2008 12:17 AM (GMT)
I figured you'd go to the link I provided and see that it was the National Quartet.
:P
