Title: Devotional: Week Of 4/7/2008
Description: Zephaniah 2:3

Chadley - April 7, 2008 05:26 PM (GMT)
Zephaniah 2:3- "Seek ye the Lord, all ye meek of the earth, which have wrought his judgment; seek righteousness, seek meekness: it may be ye shall be hid in the day of the Lord's anger."

These words were spoken by the prophet Zephaniah to an Israelite people who were falling away from the Lord. However, the message of this verse is one that all of us need to recognize and apply to our lives.

We are told to seek three things: the Lord, righteousness, and meekness. The word "seek" is an active word. It suggests that we should take the initiative and do what it takes to find these things, not just sit around and wait for them to come to us. Seeking something implies a desire for that something. We should desire the Lord. We should desire righteousness. (that which is right) We should desire meekness. (submission to God's authority) If there's anything that is sorely lacking in the world today- and sadly, amongst many Christians as well- it is a sincere desire for the Lord and His paths.

So, let us heed the words of the prophet Zephaniah. It is what our world desperately needs, and they need to see it in us.
