SUMMERSVILLE, W.Va. — It will be an exciting and inspiring musical weekend in Summersville. Canaan Records recording artists and longtime anchors of the Bill Gaither Homecoming videos and television programs, the Hoppers will appear in concert at the Fourth Annual Gospel Music Explosion, to be held at the Nazarene Campgrounds pavilion, this Friday evening, Sept. 18th, at 6:30 p.m.
As America's Favorite Family of Gospel Music celebrates their 50th anniversary in the Gospel music industry, the group has something special in mind for the Friday night appearance: The Hoppers’ Heritage Tour, a musical event that can only be presented in select locations, due to the complexity of the production.
“We’re excited anytime we can visit West Virginia, and singing in Summersville is always a treat," said Claude Hopper, manager of the family group.
The concert will be a full audio/visual program, where The Hoppers — Claude, Connie, Mike, Dean, and Kim Hopper — perform many of the sacred songs from their ministry beginnings, as well as their biggest hits, such as the current number one national hit, “I’m Just Waiting For My Ride.”
During the concert a mammoth multi-media screen will display scenes from a special collection of rare film and still photographs gathered from a half-century of Christ-centered ministry.
The Hoppers’ show will raise much-needed funds for the Nazarene Campground pavilion and will capitalize on the strengths of each of the group members. The result will include nearly every conceivable musical amalgamation in one night of powerful Christian entertainment and ministry, all for a great cause.
“After the concert, my family and I look forward to meeting and greeting friends who join us for the concert,” Dean Hopper added. “We'll also be signing copies of our new book, 'After All These Years,' and special copies of our new album, 'The Ride.'”
In conjunction with the Bill Gaither Homecoming Friends, as well as independently, the Hoppers have literally toured and sung around the world. Hopper fan favorites include such Southern Gospel classics as: “Shoutin’ Time,” "Milk and Honey," “Here I Am,” "I've Come Too Far," “Anchor To the Power of the Cross,” “Yes I Am,” and “Jerusalem.”
It’s been said that seeing the Hoppers live in concert will remind the listener just how encouraging and comforting it is to hear American Gospel music at its very best; and joining the Hoppers for a historic night of music will be international songwriter and Gospel music recording artist Squire Parsons.
