Was this Sound or The Sound?

Hidee,

It's not the Sound. Steve Warren was never in The Sound.
I am going to say Exodus, but if that isn't correct I will say the Royals. :)

I believe it was a group from Houston call the Timesmen.Warren sang tenor, Ray Jones(right) sang lead, Ken Pickenton(left) sang baritone, and Gary McCown(center) sang bass. I'm sure I misspelled a name or two. This picture was taken in the mid 60's. It was a forerunner of the Royals that had Pat Hoffmaster, Larry Gatlin, Tommy Howe and Warren.

Thank you, Ben. You're absolutely right.

I sure didn't think that Steve Warren was old enough to have sang with a group in the 60's. He seemed like such a kid the first time I saw him with The Masters V
Of course all the other guys were a little older.

Steve Warren a member of another Houston area quartet...I have a copy of an LP of that quartet with Steve on it...there's no group pic on the jacket (I'm working from memory here) but the backliner notes lists Steve as high tenor as well as a music minister for an area church. I assume this was a part-time group and I'm not sure of the quartet name but I think it was the Royalaires. The jacket front contains a pic of dinner setting with the group name at the top of the jacket front...all tinted blue...basically one color. Does this one ring a bell with anyone?

Of course this record was during Warren's pre-Stamps days.

Is this the cover you're referring to, Danny?

My copy has a picture of the group on the back.

That's the one, John. Like I said, I was working from memory. Thanks for posting it.
