*Quite frequently. It's difficult to fax an album*

Do you subscribe to any artists e-newsletters?
*I don't guess James Taylor counts, huh?*

Do you know that September is Southern Gospel Music month?
*I didn't realize that. Thanks for the information!*

Do you check artist's websites for their concert schedules?
*I certainly do. It's a great (and normally up-to-date) way to find a concert*

Have you been to an artist's homecoming this year?
*You mean a funeral?? I don't guess so*

What are your plans to celebrate Southern Gospel Music month?
*I shall go out behind the bus and smoke.*

What is the longest distance you have traveled to see an sgm concert?
*Hmm. . . how far is it from North Carolina to Texas?*

Who are some of your fave sgm artists, past and/or present?
*Statesmen, Speer Family, Imperials, Oaks, Melody Boys, Florida Boys, Booth Brothers. . . it's a long list*

Do you think Hallmark makes a card to celebrate SGM month?
*Depends on if they care enough to send the very best. . . *

What night do you prefer to attend an sgm concert?
*Whatever night there is a concert in town*

Do you have your SGM cd's autographed when possible?
*I do if it's not much trouble. I think it makes for a neat keepsake*

VirginiaJoe - September 9, 2006 03:51 PM (GMT)
1. Do you receive any type of SGM media via snail mail?
I get The Singing News, monthly

2. Do you subscribe to any artists e-newsletters?
Just the Stanley's Newsletter, and I do read it. I love it

3. Do you know that September is Southern Gospel Music month?
Well, to be honest, I thought it was October, when all the groups go to Dollywood

4. Do you check artist’s websites for their concert schedules?
I subscribe to a service that tells me who will be in my area during the next month. I give them the groups I am interested in, and the miles I am willing to travel. It's pretty neat.

5. Have you been to an artist’s homecoming this year?
No, I haven't

6. What are your plans to celebrate Southern Gospel Music month?
I plan to go to the JW Cooper get together, in Mt. Airy. You should come, too :)

7. What is the longest distance you have traveled to see an sgm concert?
I have travelled 700+ miles, from Virginia to Tampa Florida,
to see a Rebels Reunion. That was back in the early 90's, and we did it twice. Needless to say, we loved the Rebels Quartet. A sidelight to one of those trips, we got to see the Booth Brothers, before they were famous. In fact, as a result of that concert, Eddie Crook signed them to a contract.

8. Who are some of your fave sgm artists, past and/or present?
I loved the Rebels and the Prophets back in the 60's, and still love to listen to their records. Later, I loved the Imperials and the Masters V.
Today, it's the Dove Brothers, Booth Brothers, Florida Boys, Dixie Melody Boys, Melody Boys, Inspirations, Chuck Wagon Gang, Southern Sound, etc. My favorite singers start with Jay Berry, the lead singer with the Prophets and Rebels. Then, come London Parris, Smitty Gatlin, Armon Morales and Jack Toney from the past; and John Rulapaugh, David Hester, Gerald Williams, Ronnie Booth, Michael Booth, Melton Campbell(Inspirations) and Michael English, from today's artists. Any that I left out will forgive me, I'm sure.....lol.

9. Do you think Hallmark makes a card to celebrate SGM month?
I don't think so.

10. What night do you prefer to attend an sgm concert?
Any night works for me, just point me in the right direction.

11. Do you have your SGM cd’s autographed when possible?
No, but I like to have any books that I buy, autographed. My favorite autographs are the ones on a picture of the Rebels Quartet....by Horace Parrish, Jay Berry, John Mathews, London Parris and Jimmy Taylor. I wouldn't take anything for that picture. I got all the autographs back when I bought the picture, in the 60's.....except John's and London's.....and we got their's at the Grand Ole Gospel Reunion, in 1990.

Great questions, Kattie!
