Acts 4:10-11
10. Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.
11. This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.
These words were spoken by the Apostle Peter in defense of himself and the other disciples. They had been arrested by the Jewish religious leaders for preaching the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The testimony he gave here is one that every Christian should have.
In essence, Peter was referring to Jesus as the cornerstone of everything. The cornerstone is an important part of a building's foundation, and everyone understands how vital it is that a building have a strong foundation. The same is true for our Christian lives and our ministries. If Christ is not who we build these things upon, then things will begin to crumble. Without a strong foundation, they will not stand the tests of time and trials. And if you look around today, you will see ample evidence of Christ being rejected as the cornerstone of the foundation- even in the lives of Christians!
I think that we all need to examine our lives and make sure that we are building on the right foundation. This is the only way we can truly serve Him faithfully and effectively.
P.S.- Sorry for the lapse in devotionals in the past couple of weeks. My life has been a bit crazy.
