Today, we'll have no trivia question, but I'd encourage you to post your rememberances of the late Dottie Rambo.

One of our first southern gospel LP's, before we knew what SGM was, was a mix of some old top songs.
Dottie Rambo sang "Midnight in the Middle of the Day"...very haunting,...and totally unlike anything I'd heard before.
Eventually when my sis's and I started singing, our first song was 'Build My Mansion'.
I don't think there is anyone who has ever listened to SGM that does not have a memory of a Dottie Rambo song. She was an amazing talent.
As for the first time I saw a video of her...it was back from the Gospel Jubilee...long black hair...she was very unusual!

I discovered Dottie the songwriter in the early 70s when I bought my first SGM albums. The Oak Ridge Boys recorded so many of her songs. I really liked "I Just Came to Talk with You Lord" but there were so many great ones.

Then at the 1973 NQC convention I had a chance to see Dottie, Buck and Reba as they performed on two nights. They created a lot of excitement especially when they sang the upbeat numbers "What a Happy Day" and "March Around the Throne."

She wrote so many but I guess the one that comes to mind that I liked very much is "If That Isn't Love"

Her impact on this world through her songs will live forever.

May God comfort her family and host of friends and fans.

I remember seeing Dottie, Buck and Reba back in the early 60's, probably at Reynolds Auditorium in Winston Salem. They always created quite a stir when they would appear.........Dottie was certainly a true legend.

I didn't learn to love her music until later, but I think some of the songs she wrote are among the SGM classics. "Come Spring" and "If That Isn't Love" are two of my favorite Dottie songs, but I imagine that "Sheltered In The Arms of God" will be remembered as her best.

Dottie Rambo and her songs have provided much of the soundtrack to my life. From my earliest memories I can hear songs such as "If That Isn't Love," "He Ain't Never Done Me Nothing but Good," "Mama's Teaching Angels How to Sing," and "Sheltered in the Arms of God." Later I remember hearing "I've Never Been This Homesick Before" being sung on the radio and in church. In my teenage years I was blessed by hearing Sandi Patti sing "We Shall Behold Him." I was also introduced to "I Go to the Rock" during this era of my life.

When I entered the music ministry I exposed to her children's musical "Down by the Creekbank." This musical had her great song of devotion "Is There Anything I Can Do for You?" There are many other songs that I can think of. I am playing a Rambos 20 Gospel Classics Cd as I type this. This was one of the first cds I ever owned. The Rambos are singing "Tears Will Never Stain the Streets of That City." That song has comforted me many times. Dottie now enjoys the comfort that she wrote about in that song.

May God continue to use the music of this great country/gospel, contemporary Christian, inspirational, choral anthem writer. Dottie's family and her many friends are in my prayers today.

There are many of Dottie's songs that I love, but I believe my favorite is "Sheltered In The Arms Of God".

She will be missed.

Dottie Rambo wrote so many songs. I loved "Build My Mansion Next Door To Jesus" and one my brother recorded "Remind Me",and when we were at the studios in Nashville Rusty Goodman said Dottie Rambo and himself were thinking of recording an album called "Dottie Rambo and Rusty Goodman sing Dottie Rambo and Rusty Goodman songs. I don`t think they ever recorded it-but it would have been great! Dottie Rambo, Rusty Goodman and J.D. Sumner were three great songwriters.

When I was about 4 years old, I stood on stage with my grandfather and sang at the WV State Gospel Sing in Mt. Nebo, WV in front of about 5000 people. I got a standing ovation, and my picture and a small accompanying article appeared in the local paper the next day. The song? "I've Never Been This Homesick Before", and the writer none other than Dottie Rambo, though I'm sure she never pictured a 4 year old standing onstage with Pappy singing "See da bwight yight shine..." when she wrote it. She may be gone on to her reward, but the legacy in her music will last as long as the Lord tarries.

No more pain and sorrow. I remember Dottie while on the concert stage kicking off her shoes. Now she is walking the streets of gold and wearing her "New Shoes".

I wish I could remember the year I saw her in Beaumont, Texas at the church my aunts attended. It was somewhere around 1964 I think. The group was Dottie, Buck and Joe..The Gospel Echoes. They were still affiliated with the United Pentecostal Church organization I'm pretty sure. Dottie had the beautiful long hair done up, with the long curl over one shoulder. All the little girls wanted a "Dottie curl" just like hers. She was such an anointed song writer. We sing many of her songs often, "I Go To The ROCK, Midnight In The Middle of the Day, Build My Mansion, Prisoner Of Love, Sheltered In The Arms of GOD, I've Never Been This Homesick Before".....and there are more I'm sure. Just more proof that she is quite possibly the best songwriter in the history of gospel music.

I remember something she wrote one time about a new home she bought and when she went into the room that was going to be her "music room", she actually saw angels dancing around the room holding music notes in their hands. She was not your average songwriter by any means.
