From August 31 thru Sept 11, Silver Dollar City has been hosting its first continuous SG picnic.
Silver Dollar City Gospel PicnicThe response has been awesome. The City (as us locals call it), has been exceeding its budgeted attendance numbers by a huge percentage and the amphitheater has been standing room only night after night, with excited, motivated, and enthusiastic audiences in excess of 4,000 people.
Last night, we watched the Dixie Melody Boys and the Dove Brothers.
When the events of the past week at the City are combined with the awesome turnout for the annual Brumley Sing in Lebanon, Missouri just before GOGR, and now this turnout just before NQC, it makes me want to just go ahead and schedule 45 days off next year to go to:
The Brumley Sing
GOGR
The SG Picnic
NQC
I am not saying we are close to getting back to the regular all night singings throughout the country of 30 years ago, but it is a blessing to see such a great response to great gospel music in this part of the country again.
It thrills me to know it sure ain't dead yet!!!!
