Most gospel music fans know that Hovie Lister delivered the Sunday morning sermon at the National Quartet Convention for many years.
After the Statesmen disbanded in 1973 and Hovie wasn't in the gospel music mainstream, it became necessary to find another person to deliver the sermon.
Who was chosen to deliver the sermon at the 1974 National Quartet Convention?

But, I bet you didn't know that the Plainsmen provided the "Special Music", and that J. D. led the congregation in singing.

All of the reading and discussing gospel music is paying off.
I truly enjoy the trivia and history thread. It's what I do for fun and relaxation.
You've taught me well, John.
